I’ll preface my statement by saying I like Jay and think he’s an elite coach, but one of my issues with his recruiting style is the abundance of west coast and out of state kids. I understand they are all highly rated coming out of high school, but there’s a certain toughness and mentality with kids from Louisiana. Every LSU baseball team that has won a championship was littered with in state kids who grew up loving LSU baseball. It doesn’t mean the same thing to kids that don’t grow up here. Same holds true in football which is why I completely agree with Kelly’s approach in going Louisiana heavy in recruiting. This team would be much more inclined to battle than what we’re currently seeing.

Analytics and athleticism is the name of the game now. Cajuns ain’t known for being analytical.

Has there been any above average player on the team, in two seasons, that wasn't developed by another staff.
Vanderbilt appears to have better athletes and better coached players.
8-1 at present. This gotten to be embarrassing.

Always hilarious to watch the mental gymnastics people come up with for reasons when a team isn't doing well.

we all want simple solutions, don't we. We won a championship last year because of Skenes and Crews. Neither are from Louisiana.

Meh, the unquestioned best players on the team last year were from California and Florida.

There’s nothing special about being from Louisiana.

Not sure why anyone would downvote this. NIL has turned college sports into armies of mercenaries, where the hired guns didn’t grow up bleeding school colors and bringing that passion of a childhood dream come true to the field. Love the fence BK and Frank and others are putting up around the state, I think we will see positives come out of it on the football field. Are there just not any kids good enough coming out of Louisiana to have more of a presence in the dugout? This team seems very listless, I keep thinking Smoke must have returned.

I agree that there should be some Fontenots and Theoriots on the team. People that stick with program, get good and play vital roles in years 2-3. I like Tommy Tanks as much as the next guy, love him in fact, but it struck me as odd that our best hitter and all three starting pitchers at the start of the year were transfers. Sign of the times. HVL transfers in, plays one year, transfers out. Sucks when baseball posters see the team struggle and instantly start talking “portal”. Just ain’t the same no more.

Not many of these kids seem to give a shite about LSU or Louisiana aside from Travinski, Milazzo and Guidry

It's very obvious. Even Holman when interviewed sounded like he didn't care much, he was just here to pitch.

This is not a good take. Simply having Louisiana guys on the roster does not make this team better.

To the we should supplement core players from Louisiana guys. That’s called how everyone does it. Every team takes the best guys from their state and then you try to get the best in the country.
