Sounds like after the middle of April, he should be back on the team. He said he advocated for Trey to still go to school taking online classes so he doesn’t lose his eligibility.

Wasn’t he still indicted on a felony?

Regardless of what he did or didn’t do he will beck on the team if he can get a plea to a misdemeanor. I’m assuming that’s what Kelly is hoping for

I thought he was cleared.

The charges of attempted murder were dropped. The grand jury still indicted him of felony charges relating to discharging his gun
Kelly is hoping that is plead down. Kelly’s press conference was fine. He only should have said “the more serious charges were dropped” and not “the serious charges were dropped”

Only of the 2nd degree attempted murder charge. Still has a felony gun charge. Matched ballistics to his gun, they’re getting him on something but might just be a misdemeanor.

I can tell you what my takeaway was:
-Kelly has seen/heard enough that neither him or school officials believe Holley guilty of anything that will keep him out of school in the fall
-Kelly never used iffy terms to describe this situation He said this should be cleared up by end of April and that Holley would be advocated for by the athletic dept. to be re-instated. They've been so confident all along that they kept him qualified on-line.
-I would be shocked based on listening to Kelly, if Holley isn't playing this fall. I was really quite shocked at how sure him seemed that Holley would be back.

I assumed the remaining charges were felony level. However, I dont know that for certain. Maybe one of our TD barristers can give us better info.

If the grand jury refused to indict him on the attempted murder charge then it must be clear that he did not fire his gun at the victims. It's easy to get a grand jury indictment even with a questionable set of facts.
He's still charged with illegal use of a weapon. Under the Louisiana statute:
"Illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities is the intentional or criminally negligent discharging of any firearm, or the throwing, placing, or other use of any article, liquid, or substance, where it is foreseeable that it may result in death or great bodily harm to a human being."
Did he fire his gun into the air? I don't know. I still haven't seen an article that really discusses what happened.

More importantly, I hope Holly has learned how easy he can lose everything he is and ever could be with stupid decisions. I really hope he grows up after this.

This is not a criticism of BK at all, just the reality of the situation. But I wonder if BK would have been as staunch an advocate of Holly if this was last year and we had 7 other scholarship backs instead of the only 3 others we have this year.

You under- quoted him. Since you chose an unclear quote I had to listen to it myself. Thanks OP.
It’s irrelevant that he advocated for Holly to continue his classes.
For those equally disappointed in OP’s lackluster effort, Kelly said Holly has enrolled in online classes and has maintained his eligibility.
By mid April they expect the legal issue to be resolved and they will begin the process of having him reinstated so he can murder on the football field.

What I was thinking also. Since they have the ballistics his guns bullets must not have been in the area of the victims direction. If the matched his ballistics he must have fired in the ground to recover the bullets?

So, why did he fire his gun? Was there a shootout or something?
Posted on 4/6/24 at 2:08 pm to Byrdybyrd05
I say let him go. It gets hot in Farmerville and the air conditioning situation leaves a lot to be desired.

He tried to get his gun to join in and discharged it before pointing it at people
He fired it straight in the air to get people to disperse
He fired it in the air to intimidate
Multiple reasons I can think.
Holly says he wasn’t there though. So I guess his argument will be someone took his gun.

Indicted doesn’t mean convicted. Holly is innocent until proven guilty like everyone that stands trial. The media always seems to leave that part out.

I think he asked because Kelly said “he was cleared of the serious charge”
A felony is still a serious charge
A felony is still a serious charge

No one is surprised. Prosecutors are more worried about closing cases for numbers rather than trying to take things to trial.
Saw a guy with tons of evidence end up with 8 years for aggravated assault rather than 25 for attempted murder all because a plea was a guaranty.
