We were in the polygon about 10 minutes ago. High winds and rain but had passed through. That same cell has produced the tornado east of Athens.

Update from south of Nashville: schools decided to let out early, and timed it perfectly where the heaviest part of the squall line was coming down right as kids were getting off the bus. I mean, they had to try to hit that 8 minute window, and they did it. Nothing or a little rain the rest of the day.

Yeah, that graphic basically tells us that a new tornado watch will be coming for that general area soon.

quote:

I was reading a blog earlier that talked about the growth of the “new” trees in Cherokee Park (large park here in Louisville designed by Frederick Law Olmsted) that were planted in the late 70s to replace all of the trees that were ripped out of the ground during that outbreak.

My mom grew up in a house on the park boundary road. Their house was spared except needing a new roof, but they definitely remembered the damage to the trees in the park.

South Nashville here and I’ve been complaining all day about how stupid the decision to close school early was. You’re exactly right, the ONLY strong storms we had in Brentwood were at 11:45 right before I went pick my son up at noon

I didn't have a good view of it when it passed us to the north. Could see the broad rotation, but the trees blocked anything else.

cry some fricking more. just because you were inconvenienced, your stupid arse would be bitching like crazy if you had been impacted by something bad.

be thankful it was just some water and you weren't impacted like anyone up in KY/Ohio that got fricked over for real with the storms.

Yeah I watched it just a tiny bit north of me.
Pretty sure I know where high cotton’s pic came from. Breathing easier for now.
Any more reports from Ky, Ohio?
