We received .87” here in west Limestone on the TN river… with max wind at 40 mph, and rain rate at one point was 5.23” / hr. It was pouring down and this cell moved on toward Athens, Tanner, and Madison….forming the tornado.
The river doesn't protect us from tornadoes. We were hit with F-0 with tree blown down on our house last Aug. 10, 2023.

Hell, I watched the Hackleburg/Phil Campbell tornado cross the river in Decatur from ~4 miles away. That whole damn storm was on the ground.

A few rumbles of thunder… no reason for a fuss. Standard spring weather.

I had sort of written the rest of the night off for central AL and then boom, confirmed tornado.

Go back and watch that Georgia storm on a 20 frame loop from the TATL radar.

That’s impressive. Always something when you can see it curl up on reflectivity like that.

Reports of heavy tree damage and damage to homes in Verbena with the Chilton County, AL tornado, per Spann.

My aunt and uncle and two cousins on English Elm Ct in Conyers are probably dead.

Missed them by a half mile.

Glad to hear it.
Half mile or even a half block makes all the difference with a tornado.

We have some fairly wicked gradient winds today in Tennsippibama.
