Just an amazing story of survival. God Bless him:

A construction worker who survived the horrifying bridge collapse in Baltimore that has left six others dead managed to survive the terrifying ordeal even though he can't swim.
Julio Cervantes, a worker who was on the Francis Scott Key Bridge when it fell, somehow got out of his truck window as it sunk into the river according to his coworker, Moisés Diaz. Moisés was initially due to work that terrible Tuesday morning too but his shift got switched at the last moment, potentially saving his life.
The work crew had just finished filling potholes on the bridge and were sitting in their trucks waiting for the concrete to dry when disaster struck, Moisés revealed.
Moisés spoke with Julio the day after the incident, recalling their conversation he told CBS News : "He thought, 'I'm going to die here'. And even though he can't swim, he survived. Every day we give thanks to God for life." Julio's chest got crushed while escaping, but Moisés said he is doing okay now. However, he is still shocked by what happened and keeps replaying the terrifying moments.
While grateful for his and Julio's survival, Moisés is still grieving for his six co-workers - friends he considers as family - who sadly lost their lives when the bridge fell into the Patapsco River. He added: "I saw my friends as family members. The ones that died in this tragedy."
The bodies of Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes and Dorlian Castillo Cabrera were pulled out of the river on Wednesday, Maryland State Police said. The six victims, who were part of the construction crew fixing potholes on the bridge, were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, officials said
Divers have been unable to reach the four people still missing due to dangerous debris from the bridge. One of the victims still in the river is Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval.
His brother said he wished he could have stopped him from going to work that morning. The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed into the water after the 95,000-ton cargo ship Dali lost power and crashed into one of the bridge's columns. The collapse caused the largest part of the huge structure to fall.

How on earth does an adult human being not know how to swim?

You'd be surprised just how many there are that can't.

You’d probably be surprised. I took swimming lessons as a kid, swam all through childhood. Then going to the lake/pool just wasn’t a thing for me for like 15 years, but now I have a daughter that loves the pool.
Once I started back going to the pool with her, I was like wow I’m not really good at this anymore.
I ain’t gonna drown in the deep end, but I’m probably fricked if I’ve gotta crawl out of a truck and swim to shore.

Leaves me wondering how did he survive? I guess he climbed out of the truck and onto the debris

Dude probably grew up in the middle of Guatamala or Honduras or something, no where near water.
How does one learn to swim if you never swim?

I think we'd lose half the ot swimming to shore in 50 degree water. Fatties gonna float over safely.

So, if he can't swim........how'd he get here?

It says his chest was crushed in the fall. Even if you know how to swim I would imagine a crushed chest, or any other major injuries, is going to make that a fairly moot point.
When you're involved in these major traumatic events it is probably more about random luck and the quirks of physics than it is skill, fitness, instincts, etc.
