The plan is to remove constitutionally protected funds that were approved by state voters. I guess the new governor and state legislature have some spending priorities and they need the funding.

Much of the debate is expected to center on what constitutionally protected funds should be removed, which supporters say would allow for better and more flexible budgeting.

So which party again has a SPENDING problem?
This is why state voters protected these funds. The state would just blow the money on their pet projects until its gone.

We don’t need to spend more to spend smarter. We also shouldn’t need to vote to amend the constitution every year.

Is it part of the Constitutional Conventions being called in all states to address the "Central" Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooberment that has formed in Washington, DC?

No, not at all.
This is designed to restructure the stare constitution in the hopes that doing so will make us more economically competitive with Texas.

I guess Texas will say, "Okay Texans, it is time to develop 5 major casinos. Because it is Texas, they must be HUUUUGE."

It has to happen, we just have to hope the new constitution is better than the old one. Unfortunately in Louisiana that’s a big ask.

The Louisiana Constitution we have now was written under the leadership of EWE and was formed without Republican input back in the 70s. It places a lot of power in the Governor’s office. Parish’s come to the Governor’s office and bend the knee to get things done.
We need a new Constitution.

Jindal didn't need a Constitutional Convention, he just raided them (ask State Parks).

He raided “them”? The Constitution?

Promise sugar plums, but once the convention starts, copy and paste Texas’ constitution.
Apparently it works better than our crony one!

They ALL were Democrats back then. They just switched parties when it suited them. RINO'S.

I’ve lived in LA nearly my entire life. Protecting funds from being cut has resulted in only allowing certain reductions in spending, which is asinine.
Everything should be on the table.
There is so much useless shite that is protected, while healthcare and education aren’t.

Maybe so, but the PEOPLE of Louisiana Protected the shite. They had good reason and it was put to them to approve or disapprove.
How much longer do you think Homestead exemption should last before being removed by these HONEST politicians?
