Who reported it?
I think ESPN was tipped off about an investigation that was looking into the bookie and $5 MM wire transfer from Ohtani was uncovered

MLB is tipping the scales with this! There is NO frickING WAY that this fricking interpreter accessed $16M fricking dollars of Ohtani’s money like this (without his authorization)

MLB is tipping the scales with this
If he played on a team in a TRUMP state, like the Astros, it would be over for him

I guess the feds are in on the coverup. Reported today:
The former interpreter for Shohei Ohtani stole more than $16 million over two years from the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar to pay off gambling debts to an illegal sportsbook, according to an affidavit filed by federal authorities Thursday.
Federal authorities filed a complaint accusing Ippei Mizuhara, 39, of bank fraud, which can carry a maximum fine of up to $1 million and/or up to 30 years in prison, according to federal sentencing guidelines.
"I want to emphasize this point: Mr. Ohtani is considered a victim in this case," U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said during a news conference in Los Angeles.
Estrada added that there was no evidence Ohtani had any knowledge of Mizuhara's gambling activities or use of his bank account to pay his debts. He said investigators combed through years of text messages between the two and found no discussion of gambling.

Oh yea the FBI and the IRS would never ever be dishonest. Certainly don’t have any corruption in their line of work

That's fine have that attitude but you can quit with the constant Astros whining you hypocritical turd.

Unless his business mgr/accountant was involved and indicted also there is no way that 16 million could have disappeared without one of them coming to Ohtani about all the missing money. He had to be involved or aware no way around that.

Hell, I'm just surprised that the FBI didn't find evidence Trump or a Trump "associate" was involved.

$16M over 24 months is $667k~ per month, I know he is a millionaire and all but you would have to notice that some money was missing.

CA taxes on that is more than MLB luxury tax. LOL

With that said, I still think the only thing he did wrong was directly wire money to an illegal bookie to cover Ippei's debts...
You think a bookie let his translator rack up anywhere from a 4.5-16 million dollar debt?

I don’t necessarily agree with that, it’s not like these guys are checking all their account balances every week.
