Select women's college basketball games have been very entertaining lately.
It's obviously more popular than it's ever been as there are posts about it quite frequently on this board (whereas in the past, there were basically zero)

but I actually like watching sports. Apparently you don’t.

There are a lot of really good freshmen this year. The women’s game is only getting better.
I don't disagree, but watchability/marketability for basketball is all about star power.
The reason women's college basketball has been popular the last 2 years is because Clark and Reese are legit, recognizable stars. The added drama between them only made it better.
I've had a couple of female friends who wouldn't watch sports if you paid them, but they saw the South Carolina/LSU debacle on TikTok along with Kim Mulkey talking shite and now it's all they talk about and want to watch.
You need big personalities, stars and rivalry/drama.
The above is why men's college basketball outside of March Madness isn't all that popular either. Most people can't name one elite player, let alone multiple players in the men's league. Which probably leads into a conversation about the 1 and done rule, but that's another discussion.

Texas’ following game against Tennessee was terrible too.
Tennessee at one point was 1/21 from 3 point range. Texas had 17 turnovers and 19 points at halftime.
There are some truly bad mens games.

Gimme a 6 of some GOOD beer and I'll watch. I'm not promising not to criticize the whole damn time though. Same with softball.

you said:
"No it isn't. It's about the same", in reference to someone saying "mens college basketball game between the two worst teams is miles ahead of two top tier womens college teams"
I did. I did not say the athletes were equivilant just that the game were. Lots of missed shots, poor passing, etc. Ball handling tends to be better in the men's game even at low levels, tough.
I wasn't saying those men's teams would beat those women's teams. Physiology takes care of that for the most part. Just the quality of basketball is pretty similar between low end teams in mens and the women's teams. It can be frustrating to watch.
A few years ago I watched the Horizon league championship between Detroit Mercy and Youngstown State and it was a lot like a women's game. And that was the two best teams in a bad league. Minutes and minutes without a score. Worse, in my opinion, that what you are seeing now in the women's tournament. But still those teams would beat the women.

oh triggered for sure. that's what millenials do right? they get triggered?
That made me chuckle.

The biggest issue women's sports has is women don't generally support it. .

I watch LSU in the tourney but if they are knocked out I won’t watch anymore.
I have watched zero seconds of a WNBA game in my life. Could not name one team.

This is so bad lol
Brick after brick
Layups that bounce in the square and bounce out the other side without hitting the rim
Some of the worst dribbling/ball handling I’ve ever seen at any level
And these are two of the best womens programs in the country lol
Oh look another airball 3 as I’m typing

The coming LSU-Iowa matchup is about as intriguing as it gets for WBB
Posted on 3/30/24 at 3:47 pm to pevetohead
I watched LSU today.
First game of the season.
If LSU wasnt playing, no money in the world is enough to make we watch this awful crap.

I watched the LSU game. Watching Iowa now. Where do I get my check?

People that bitch about watching women’s sports are the worst. Why don’t you like it? Becuase it’s not the best basketball product? But you like men’s college and that’s shite compared to the nba. And regular nba is shite compared to maybe the finals. So if you only want to watch ultra elite basketball played, only watch the finals.
Women are inferior athletes, and a sport like basketball illustrates this clearly. WNBA teams would have trouble beating high school boys teams. For every Caitlin Clark that is out there doing things like a dude, there are 250 women with almost no athletic ability.

I don't really pay much attention to college sports.
I cover a lot of prep basketball boys and girls.
