Let me ask you something jake88, do you think ebt recipients should be forced to go to govt run cafeterias for their food?

100%. Why should EBT recipients get to shop at Whole Foods and Fresh Market with my tax dollars? These are places I shop sparingly due to the cost. You don't get to be bougie with someone else's money.

Seeing the "EBT Welcome" sticker on the windows makes me irrationally angry. So many game the system and laugh at us.

Government cheese for the win!

So, end student loan subsidies?

uhh, yes, student loan subsidies have increased the cost of college.

EV subsidies?

uhh, yes, EV subsidies have increased the cost of EVs.

Whenever government throws money, inflation is soon to follow.

Remember, kids are put in private schools, because the money the state spends on facilities, teachers, etc., is not effectively spent.

This is true to some extent, but a lot of parents put their kids in Catholics schools here because they want a Catholic education. The public schools could be amazing and they would still choose a Catholic education.

On the plus side, you could probably start closing schools and firing teachers due to decreased enrollment. Oh, yeah, that'll happen.

Read the various studies that have been posted in this thread. The amount of students that are projected to leave public school for private school, because of this account, is minimal.

So there is no problem?

I don't know if that's actually true. You can get a "Catholic education," at uh, church. Don't shoot people, or offer to blow teachers as a teenager, teach RRR. At least EBR can't cross that bar. LA public ed doesn't really work. Yet, budgets are ever increasing with no consequence. GATOR seems to be the start of the consequence. FAFO, public schools.

I agree in ending the subsidies I mentioned, btw, but I know it's never happening.

Does anyone else get annoyed by the cutesy acronyms politicians name bills?

Yes, thinking the same thing

And

This will go poorly as it always does. Participating schools are worse than the public schools. Some just set up shop and pretend to be schools.

Does this mean that the state is going to pay for my kids' private school tuition?

Partially, yes. A little more than $5k per year for non-public school students from K-12 starting in 2028. That's what the bill is.

Why on earth would anyone want the democrats to come to private schools?

What makes you think this would happen? Private schools still get to choose who goes to their schools

This is exactly my concern. When the voucher program goes away, the costs will remain elevated well beyond what would’ve occurred naturally.

What should’ve taken place is some form of a non refundable tax credit that allows you to shift the private school deduction you currently take into a credit.

It allows some level of price control.

My children do not go to public schools. I pay out my fricking arse for all 3 of them to go to Catholic private schools.

Does this mean that the state is going to pay for my kids' private school tuition?

Because I don't understand what this law is and I feel that's by design.

Your private school tuition is about to go up by about 5k per kid.
