The ship told authorities it lost power and might hit bridge.

I'm on the Tigerdroppings poli-board. Sadly, I don’t believe you're trolling.

JFC. We need a conspiracy theory board.
Oftentimes accidents start out with underlying criminal behavior or extreme malfeasance.

There is no need for crazy conspiracy theories with this one.
But this is at least the third horrific event under Mayer Pete’s watch.
In a just world he would resign. Of course that won’t happen. I won’t be shocked to hear this blamed on Trump.

I'm also kinda surprised there were zero escort tugs of any kind.
I’m thinking when a container ship is underway, tugs turn from useful guides to rubber ducks.
Anyway.. by the time there is is an issue raised.. the tugs would take a while to get in position. It would take more than a couple minutes.

Obviously, I'm wrong, but I had always thought that when navigating inland and near infrastructure, the big ships had help.

How is he expected to keep an accident like this from happening?
This shouldn't even be on PT.

That ship is not real.

But, seems to me that if the ship had any control at all,
Them currents are a bitch. I'm no shipping expert either, but it don't take an Einstein to see that when you lose power on one of them huge ship, you've converted that ship into a floating battering ram.
I can only imagine the panic in those eighteen wheeler drivers as they watched that ship approaching the bridge. But then maybe not, they're professionals, they know what to do with their trucks when they face an emergency. Still, they must have sensed the Captain was having problems with the ship - that sudden bellowing smoke being a giveaway - something ain't right with that boat. So, if the ship lost power does that mean the Captain was unable to blow a warming? Prolly wouldn't have made any difference. Put the peddle to the metal. So many questions.
I'd expect a preliminary accident report to come out PDQ.

Lost power (electrical for sure). Had it slammed in reverse. You could see exhaust stack rolling full black smoke. Lights blink off several times.
Depending on rudder position and operability, it still makes boat flow a certain direction
There's an angle from the front where you can see this unfold. He had the bow finally swinging away from piling, but it was too late.
I do agree the thing was originally going to fast. Have no clue of speed regulations, but damn thing was moving quick

Take off your tin foil hats. The ship lost power and as a result lost steering ability.

Maybe it was an accident.

OK. did it lose power because the 30 year employee and double-degreed engineer responsible for the weekly testing of the electrical transfer switches was fired because he didn't align with Synergy DEI Policy, and replaced by an unqualified lesbian eskimo who did?
Or did it lose power because the technician with 25 years experience responsible for the maintaining the emergency transfer to backup power on main loss was fired because he didn't align with Synergy DEI Policy, and replaced by an unqualified trans double amputee who did?
Or, I could go on and on and on...

The container ship that crashed into a Baltimore bridge and caused cars to tumble into the freezing Patapsco River warned it had lost control as it was leaving the port.
Crew onboard the Singapore vessel Dali had reportedly notified Maryland officials that they had lost propulsion, shortly before they crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
“The vessel notified MD Department of Transportation (MDOT) that they had lost control of the vessel and a collision with the bridge was possible,” ABC News reported.
The report by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency added: “The vessel struck the bridge causing a complete collapse.”
Two people have been rescued from the waters, with one in critical condition, while a desperate search is currently underway for at least seven people who remain missing.
