Who has that kind of liquidity other than the banks who lent Trump the money to begin with and said there was no fraud?
It would be great if he could get a letter of credit from Deutsch Bank.
Wonder if he’d have to go through Lloyd’s to find surety.

If they start liquidating his properties and it gets overturned, the city and state of NY are in major financial trouble.
I hope so.

I was watching MSDNC for melts.
They said there was no reason, precedent, or justification to lower the bond. Completely ignoring the 8th amendment.
They pivot heavily to the Bragg criminal trial and Jury selection April 15.
When Trump came out to talk, they went live, then immediately cut him off when he said this case was election interference.
They said he’s ignoring facts and Trump is actually guilty of election interference by paying Stormy.

He shouldn't have to pay anything in order to appeal, but at least that's a little relief.
Appealing is cheap. It's the bond to suspend the execution during the appeal that is expensive.
The reduction appears to be an appropriate move. No one is out any money during appeal. This is different than a civil judgment where someone has been shown to have suffered a loss in the amount of the judgment.

How strong is this one? A jury trial in NY is a scary thought.

For comparison Bernie Madoff's bond was $10 million.
$175 million is still ridiculous.

And he actually had victims. Trump doesn’t.

You are exactly right. It is why we need fewer lawyers making the laws. Lawyers love creating "job security" with their unconstitutional BS!!
There is a long history of that. It took an uprising in England to get the court to move to English common law and language.

I don’t know how he isn’t convicted.
The NY jurors will feel it is up to them to prevent another Trump presidency, regardless of facts.
The question I have is if he’s found guilty, will they take him in to custody right there?

Still ridiculous but not as ridiculous as that stupid activist judge that hits on young women at the gym.

Doesn’t matter….he will still lose his appeal and eventually have to pay what he owes. Simple as that.

Isn't the cost of the bond typically 10% or so of the value? Pretty sure that is how bail bonds work.

Where do people keep getting the idea you have to post an appeal bond in order to appeal? This isn't the case and has been explained numerous times here. The bond is to suspend the enforcement of the judgment.
...a distinction without a difference.
Some people can't see the forest through the trees.

Still may not be able to find someone willing to cover $175m as a bond.
When asked by reporters, "What's your collateral on the bond?" when Trump was walking away, he turned and said, "CASH" then left
BOOM!
