She refused an interview for 2 years. She was never unti now sent a list of questioms for response. The "reporter" wanted to interview her for some old-fashioned "gotcha joutnalism".
When she didn't take the bait, Zhe wrote up his one-sided story, and said "this what I plan to say, care to respond?
_________
Funny... Now the reporter isn't resonding to interview requests. I mean you can't make this stuff up.
As far as BB, She is clearly a somewhat successfull Sports reporter, while Kim is only the Defending, and 4 x nationa championship head coach, gold medalist, and hall of Famer...

How so? Maybe they promised her facility upgrades after she won multiple national championships, yet they failed to deliver.
I have a friend that is a Baylor “insider” and this is accurate. As soon as Men’s team won, the plans for their new arena were immediately put into action.
Neither party is wrong. Women’s ball is the most popular women’s sport and it’s infinitesimal compared men’s. But it’s also BS to wait to justify a new anrena until the men finally won after sucking for 2 decades.

I have relatives that worked for Baylor... 1 was a professor. He was not allowed to drink Alcohol in public "IF" there was a resonable expectation that there might be students there. It is a Baptist University... ultra conservative.
"IF" Kim advised players not to discuss their sexuality or orientation while playing for Baylor... Sounds like pretty good advice. Remember.. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was a thing in the service... And a fairly common philosophy at the time.

...which is to say ultra-hypocritical. They just retired Britney Griner's number...after shoving her into the closet for three years. P.S. they did not offer a public apology or change the school's policy.

Kim was doing what she had to do get kids into her program and have a chance to mentor them. I firmly believe she found the whole policy repugnant and was happy to see Waco in the rearview mirror.

I remember friends of mine going there back in the day and they weren't allowed to possess or consume alcohol..... hence the name of the beer mug at George's in Waco called the big O... a code word for beer years ago by students.

Not exactly Cal-Berkly. I wonder if there are any lebians on the Liberty WBB team, or the Softball team.... Hmm?

Bonnie seems uncomfortable with his manhood.

Bonnie Bernstein is on tv because she is hot that’s literally it.

I'm sure there are a lot of people like that, just like people hated Saban for apolitical reasons.
However, a lot of it is for her:
- perceived homophobia
- perceived conservatism
- perceived covid skepticism.
You can't be a homophobe and coach women's sports. You wouldn't get any recruits.
There's also a "team Staley" vs "team Mulkey" thing going one, with some racial overtones to it.
Kim is as loyal as they come. She is a straight shooter and doesn't sugar coat things. I love those qualities in her.
I've known Kim just about my entire life and there is not a racial bone or thought in her body. The media would love to spin a racial overtone. I guess by definition, " one coach is black and one coach is white ". Anything other than that is complete bullshite.
She's been an elite athlete her entire life. At 12 yrs old, she was the 1st and only girl on the boys Little League baseball in Hammond. She pitched and played catcher, made the All Star teams and was a baller.
She's not a homophobe either. Think about this regarding Brittney Griner: Your the coach at Baylor,
one of the nation’s most prominent Christian colleges with a strict Baptist beliefs. At the time when Brittney was there, Baylor Administration had a student policy on sexual misconduct that specifically forbade “homosexual acts" and same sex relationships. As the head coach, you want to protect your players - especially the super star gay player.
quote:
"It was more of a unwritten law [to not discuss your sexuality] ... it was just kind of, like, one of those things, you know, just don't do it," Griner said. "They kind of tried to make it, like, 'Why put your business out on the street like that?'"
It was a Baylor policy. As a coach, Baylor is your boss. There's not a coach out there that would want see their three-time Big 12 Player of the Year to be not-in-good-standing with the Baylor Administration over what they and the Student Handbook defines as "Sexual misconduct".

Maybe you should send your post on over the WAPO writer. I'm sure he'd love seeing the positives.

Make the story about Baylor... Wher men can have issues.. And it's OK.

No. There doesn't need to be a story about anything or anyone. My point is "there is no story".
quote:You mean, Mulkey's employers' code of conduct rule on same sex relationships. Kim's view was it's no ones business.
The Sporting News examines the relationship between Mulkey and Griner, one that started with promise but has seemingly deteriorated due to Mulkey's personal views.
quote:
(from Griner's book)Brittney also explores her complicated relationships with two people she loves and respects—her father, Ray, and her coach at Baylor, Kim Mulkey—as well as her mixed feelings about playing for a school that has a policy against homosexuality.
It was a school policy. Not a Kim policy.

This is an honest to God question from a media reporter to a head coach about a player!! You can't make up this type of stupidity.
quote:
Outsports:
"Have you ever had a gay player on your team?"
Kim Mulkey:
"Don't ask me that. I don't ask that. I don't think it's anybody's business. Whoever you are. I don't care to know that."

Apparently, ole Bonnie has aged well because she's still a looker after all these years!

This woman has been a head coach for nearly 25 years. What kind of dumbass question is that
She had a couple on last year's team for goodness sakes.

On the other hand Babb had two years to submit questions and didn't. Plus Bernstein is ignoring the fact that KM told him two years ago she wouldn't do an interview and why. BB is a partisan hack screaming me me me.

What is "partisan" about Bernstein?
I tried to google a bit of her history and i didn't find much political about it, much less "partisan".
I understand that many here suspect a critical article is coming, but your own posts may be far less fair than the author will be. We don't even know much about the subject matter of the article, much less its perceived inaccuracy/ unfairness.
Maybe we should actually read what is published?
