he had a 17 straight game on base streak & they’ve only played 23 games so you just aren’t good at Math I supposed

And he has scored or driven in a run in each of the last two games he has played.

He also has the only go-ahead 9th inning RBI for the team this season.

He leads the team in strikeouts. His obp is because of walks and hbp. He will not get as many walks and hbp in sec play. His obp has been dropping. Leading the team in strikeouts tells you he isn’t seeing/hitting the ball.

No. He’s only not gotten on base 3 of our last 9 games and 6 total games this season

So?

That won't be the case for other hitters as well?

The other players don’t strikeout as much. His obp is because he got hit or walks. If he doesn’t get hit or walks he strikes out. The other guys are hitting the ball.

I meant to add “like” in there that’s my fault. It was an exaggeration, I was making the point that he hasn’t been getting on base for the past two weeks.

I think there are better options such as Frey, Neal, Brown, and Milazzo. I also would like to see Larson get more at bats.

Why does that matter if a guy at the bottom of the order is still getting on base at a higher clip than half the starters?

You act like he’s been the 8 hole hitter all year. He has more abs at leadoff than the bottom of the order. Again, his obp is because of walks and hbp against inferior opponents. Elite staffs will not walk him or hit him that shouldn’t be difficult to understand. His obp has been dropping.

He is the only player that has more strikeouts than hits. That isn’t useful.

So why does this only apply to Kling and not the other hitters in the lineup?

Also, why did the other hitters not have as good of OBP's as Kling despite facing weak pitching?

But he gets on base... that is useful.

They are going to defend him by his HBP and defense. They don’t think anyone else is capable of leading off or playing CF. Basically if Kling were to get hurt we’d be fricked.

And he really doesn’t get on base that much anymore. The only reason anyone can argue for him to be on the field everyday is for his defense. Which is fine, you’ve been using that as your reason the whole time. I just disagree with the idea that he is the only player who can adequately play CF, like how I disagreed with the premise that he is the only player capable of leading off.

The obp is dropping. He’s not getting on base at the rate he was at the beginning of the year.

Klings obp is based on walks and hit by pitch. The other guys are maki g contact with the ball. Kling is not.

Kling is 2-23 in his last 10 games with 12k’s, 4 walks, and 2 hbp.

I think everyone's OBP besides Pearson and maybe White has dropped since SEC play began.

2 hits in 10 games. 12k’s and 4 walks but he should be in the lineup.

I was at the game and witnessed the strong wind blow back his grand slam. The ball was crushed and still was just 10 feet from the wall. If there was no wind it would have been up in the left field bleachers. It there was a slight wind blowing out, the ball would have been over the bleachers.
I bet most of you would have a different opinion of Paxton if not for the wind blowing in so hard tonight.
