It’s easier to catch a ball than hit it. I’ll take 5 errors but a .325 ba over 0 errors but a .200 ba.

Bingo we have a winner.

I’m happy Kling did his job that AB but y’all don’t actually think that sac fly just earned him an everyday spot in the lineup right?

Striking out 2 out of every 3 abs does not provide value.

He had 18 Ks in 84 plate appearances coming into tonight. That’s about 1 out of every 5 but don’t let math get in the way of your melt

You do understand that no mlb centerfielder is batting .220 and leading their team in strikeouts

True but Cody Bellinger did hit .210 and was #2 in Ks for the Dodgers in 2022. He went on to hit 26 yaks, score 95 runs, and drive in 97 in 2023.

To be clear, we probably need Kling to do what Kling is capable of if we want to make it to Omaha.

You don’t know what is valuable and what isn’t. You’re triggered by a high recruit isn’t as good as you pumped him up to be in your head

People are out here treating Kling like he's the CF version of Hal Hughes, who needed everything to go right for him at the plate to just chop one past the infield.

If everything goes right for Kling at the plate, he's hitting a ball over 100mph.

Now 20 in 88 PA’s. Still not good at all considering he provides nothing in terms of slugging.

To be fair, it’s not just that he hasn’t been as good as some were expecting. He’s just been bad this year offensively. Even if he came into the year with a 10th round grade instead a a first, we would still say that he hasn’t been good offensively.

For a guy who shits on Milazzo because for a bad slugging % you sure do defend Kling a lot.

22% is high but not red alert high

He has 24 bb/hbp vs 20k.

Any time you get more free bases than K’s the coach is going to feel comfortable playing you most nights

Good point. KLING IS ELITE in cf. If he bat's 9th and does anything offensively he's a plus.

Saying that no one else can play CF reminds me of last week when Lester said that no one could lead off besides Kling

Sure but we’re leaning on HBPs pretty heavily here.

And that’s a flimsy stat for Kling to hang his hat on.

If my 8/9 hole hitter with speed gets on base over 40% of the time I’m pretty ok with it if he also plays elite defense

His BB% without the HBP is 16% was 2nd on the team I think

& HBP is not really random when it happens that much.

As much as we draw HBPs under Jay, I can assure you they’re not completely random

Kling has gotten on base once in the last 9 games he has played

It’s definitely weird, I’d like to see him explain it

Ultimately, I just don’t trust these on base numbers are going to hold for Kling. If he gets hit 50 times this year, then great, happy to be wrong.
