Anyone Own A Nitro Bass Boat

Anyone own a Nitro bass boat? I’m slowly starting to look into buying a new bass boat (Z19) and Nitro (Cabela’s) is fairly close to me. My 2 boys and I only really fish February to September. We bass fish 99.9% of the time. Once they get older both want to do the high school fishing thing so I’ll really need something a lil newer boat then.
Has anyone ever bought a boat thru Cabelas? How was the experience? Any and all comments welcome, good and bad experiences with either Cabelas and Nitro. Thanks!

All I know is the resale value sucks. They are considered the Walmart brand of the cookie cutter boats. It may work for you in your situation but if you are looking to resale and upgrade in a few years I would research the resell value.

That’s what I always thought and heard also. My current boat is 29 years old. Whatever I buy will probably be my last boat ever, unless I hand it down to one of my boys.

May be fine for you then. Just check the fit and finish. Open every compartment and look in it. Look Under the console and check the wiring in the rear. Run the pumps, check all the controls on the keypad. Make sure everything is clean and looks up to par. Look at the lines in the gel coat, make sure they are sharp. I know a few that own them and they enjoyed them once the bugs were worked out.
Sorry I don't have any buyers experience.

I’m in the market also.
I’ve been asking around and overwhelmingly I’ve been told to stay away from Nitro. Resale value and a general lack of quality control were the two biggest reasons.

Bass Cat Pantera Classic is what I really want but a buddy told me to check out a Nitro.

(Edit … will only have to catch a 9lber Sunday to win it all…. No problem LOL)

I’ve got a 2019 Ranger 521L w 250 G2 Evinrude I’m looking to sale

That evinrude is going to cost you 25k in resale. Anybody who buys it will have to plan for a repower.

Yep hats why it hasn’t sold yet. And I’ve got it prices $12k lower than the exact same boat with a Mercury.

That's ridiculous. There's a lot of them out there with 6 years of warranty left on them.

I have a 1996 Nitro with the original 150 Mercury
It’s a good boat, all electronics still work and all gauges except speedometer. I know it has a reputation as a cheaper made boat but it seems decent enough quality to me. Like anything, it’ll do fine if you take care of it

Why do people repower outboards so much? I get it on center consoles especially when people use them regularly going offshore and you need reliability
But as far as bass boats/freshwater fishing boats I usually keep an outboard for 20 years. My boats will wear out more than the engine

They don't. Serious people are repowering at over 4500 hours these days. It's all just shite talking.
I can understand not wanting a FICT or an older etech. A G2 etech with low hours has an absurd amount of life left in it, and nobody's going to buy it and actually go straight to repowering it. They're going to run it till it blows up or more likely, they sell the boat.

As far as buying a new Nitro, I would not. Look for a used Bass Cat, Phoenix or Ranger with a Mercury or Yamaha. Not familiar with Suzuki, but have heard good things. There are good deals to be found, if you’re willing to be patient, and wait for it. Facebook marketplace and Bass Boat Central are good places to look. If you can find a motor with low hrs (<200) and a boat that hasn’t been abused, you will save yourself thousands. Also, check what electronics and trolling motor are on the boat. Upgrading these will be pricey. Power poles are not necessary, but are nice to have.

Or until it needs one single part that you can’t buy because evinrude went tits up.
I know that somebody (Mercury maybe) is supposedly honoring the warranty on them, but what happens when parts stock is gone, or like they are making more. What happens when the mechanics that were trained to work on them switch jobs (every 3 years)? They aren’t training new guys to work on out of business motors.
Go ahead and buy that motor and report back when you try to get it worked on.

Correct. There is an audible sigh when I call the shop regarding my G2. They’ve said the wait for warranty parts is just getting longer and longer.

Nope. Mercury has nothing to do with the Evinrude warranty.

It's still very easy to get both parts and service for them today. BRP hasn't gone out of business. They aren't some kind of magic gizmo that requires ultra specialized service skills.
I have one. Would I trade it for a F300 yamaha? Of course. Is it a liability like everyone makes it out to be? Not at all. It's a solid engine. Certainly not completely worthless as often gets said on here.

I can still get parts for my 1995 Johnson faststrike 150hp.
