Mine has been great! Honestly, best motor I’ve had. Great on gas and a ton of torque. And BRP didn’t go out of business, they just stopped making Evinrude. Parts are still widely available and plenty of mechanics work on them. Realistically, someone could buy my boat for $12k cheaper than one with a Mercury and possibly run it for 15 years and never have an issue with it. If it does pop one day, you could repower with a brand new motor and still not be in it for that much more than one with a used motor

I’ve got a 2019 Ranger 521L w 250 G2 Evinrude I’m looking to sale

Good luck selling it. Die hard Evinrude guys who work on their own stuff will want a huge reduction in your price.

Lot of people will agree to pay for the boat/trailer, but consider the engine as a throw in with the sale, giving it little to no value.

Getting tougher to find anyone to do warranty work, many places won’t even look at them for basic stuff. And newer parts can be difficult to find even though Bombardier said they would honor warranties and keep parts available.

Loved my older Rudes, but glad I don’t have to deal with the issues now.

That's ridiculous. There's a lot of them out there with 6 years of warranty left on them.

Unfortunately it doesn’t matter if you have 20 years of warranty, it doesn’t do you any good if dealers and repair shops refuse to work on them. I know places that will work on older Rudes, but won’t touch a newer one.

If you have a shop willing to do your warranty work, wait on parts, and put up with billing headaches getting paid then you need to hug them tight and never let go.

In many cases it’s easier to get parts for 20-30 year old engines than newer ones.

Anyone own a Nitro bass boat? I’m slowly starting to look into buying a new bass boat (Z19) and Nitro (Cabela’s) is fairly close to me. My 2 boys and I only really fish February to September. We bass fish 99.9% of the time. Once they get older both want to do the high school fishing thing so I’ll really need something a lil newer boat then.

Nitro has gone through three phases.

First run of Nitros were designed/built by Alan Stinson back in the late89’s/early 90’s, IIRC. Great boats, friends of mine had the 20 footers, took everything Santee Cooper threw at them and never blinked. Very fishable, tanks, ran great with 200 Mercs and took rough water great.

Second, BPS bought Nitro in the 90’s, that’s where the issues began. Quality slipped with the mass production. Still a fishable boat, but quality side by side with a Ranger or Bass Cat was noticeably different.

Third, WRMG now owns Ranger, Triton, and Nitro. Quality of Ranger has dropped the past several years, Nitro has improved.

IMHO Ranger is still by and large a more quality boat than Nitro, but the gap has narrowed.

Your resale will be lower with a Nitro, but it’s a good fishable boat. It’s like anything else, people get good ones and bad ones. I’ve known guys who haven’t had any issues with Nitros, and guys with Rangers and Skeeters who had tons of issues.

Buy what you want and fish.
