He will be reevaluated in two weeks
Honestly this is the first time I would love to hear that. That means theres a chance he plays in the playoffs. Im praying for the revaluated in 2 weeks!

It looked really bad to me and I hate to say that because BI is a pro’s pro and works his arse off at his game but the knee doesn’t bend that far without tearing something. Praying we get lucky but i’ll be shocked if he doesn’t need knee surgery with a torn ligament. For a guy whose game is about being long and playing above the rim, rising above guys to get shots off, this looks concerning to say the least. This is either going to be a 2 week scare or a 6+ month recovery and rehab. I don’t see much in between here. It just looked to go too far for just a scare hyperextension though. Something had to give in that knee. I’m sure Willie already knows though. The trainers can do an ACL test in the locker room. Pray it isn’t a patellar tendon injury. I’ve had an ACL and a patellar in my life and the patellar was worse IMO.

Not saying there isn’t anything torn but that is definitely not true.

Hey I hope you’re right. BI is a flexible dude too so maybe he will be just fine this time in April. I just know the trainers can do ligament tests in the locker room and Willie almost sounded to me like he already my got some upsetting news postgame but are waiting for the MRI to confirm. Again please let me be wrong as shite but I noticed a point in the game where Willie got told something in his ear and he just looked down at the floor almost kind of deflated. Could be nothing, hope it’s nothing. We are about to see what this team is made of though because they will at the very least have to hold onto that 6 spot without BI for maybe the majority of it.

That’s not the type of mechanism that causes a patellar tendon tear. They will pretty much know what they are looking at with the MRI. I honestly don’t think it will be an ACL, but could be PCL. He can come back if there is just a capsular disruption. The worst injuries more often occur with the combination of hyperextension while an external force is applied. Just have to hope that some good fortune is on his side.

Paul George had the exact same injury around the same time last year. It took him 2-3 weeks and was back for the playoffs. George said himself the injury is extremely painful but once he went to the locker room it calmed down. Im hoping its the same thing for BI and maybe he play in a game or two before the playoffs.

The way he grabbed the front of his knee I'm betting the worst pain came from the two leg bones pushing together and bruising

I tend to like Sutterer’s vids and feel like he gives a pretty even keel analysis of all the injuries I’ve seen him review.
I feel like when he was drawing some of those lines showing the straight line your normal extended range would be, he was like going down the front of the upper leg and back of the lower leg which exacerbated the perceived degree of hyperextension. It wasn’t fricking 45° beyond standard limit. That’s insane that’s a DESTROYED knee. Plus, there is usually a couple degrees beyond 180° that most people’s knees can lock out to normally.
That’s all to say, there well could be damage as everyone and every injury is unique and lesser extensions have cause more harm than more extreme extensions. We’ll just have to wait for results, but I did feel like this extension was slightly exaggerated in the video.

I don’t think I got that at all from the video. He talked about even though the leg extended- the patella and circular part of knee looked fine- which is key in regards to the ligaments(ACL, MCL and PCL). Giannis and Paul George have had very similar injuries and had no ligament damage. In regards the leg extension lot of that is dependent on flexibility due to the player as well. There was a video of Collins telling Willie that it was hyperextension. If it was an ACL they could test that immediately without MRI. There definitely could be some bruising but Im thinking that it’s hyperextension with bone bruising and reevaluated in 2 weeks. For the first time we would love to hear “2 weeks.”

Got an early report from someone close to organization that injury is not that bad, not season ending. For what it's worth.
