John Hinckley Jr., the man who shot former President Ronald Reagan in an attempted assassination in 1981, claimed he is a “victim of cancel culture” on Wednesday after his upcoming music concert in Connecticut was canceled.
Hinckley, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the attack more than four decades ago, told the New York Post, “I think that’s fair to say: I’m a victim of cancel culture.”
He complained, “It keeps happening over and over again.”
Hinckley launched a music career in 2020, just a few years after he was released from psychiatric care and was given permission in 2022 to start touring the United States.
Hinckley’s concerts have been repeatedly canceled, however, due to backlash, violent threats, and security concerns.
“They book me and then the show gets announced and then the venue starts getting backlash,” said Hinckley to the Post. “The owners always cave, they cancel. It’s happened so many times it’s kinda what I expect… I don’t really get upset.”

Man, I think the more likely reason that people don’t want to host or attend your shows is because you attempted to assassinate the then President of the United States.

You try to shoot one President, one time and no one shuts up about it. Its ridiculous.

He was young. Made some bad choices.

I think it’s fair to say that this dude cancelled himself.

Reagan forgave him.

How times have changed. Shooting a GOP president would get him booked on every talk show in America today.

Well, he is clearly insane so I’m sure he probably does think everyone is out to get him after trying to kill a sitting president. Maybe he sucks and can’t book shows.

Hinkley is a record holder for horny. To shoot a president so Jodi Foster would notice you is wild.

I think Ronny genuinely worried for the guy.
There is an old frontline show dealing with Hinkley and Mark David Chapman, and their obsession with "Catcher in the Rye"

Not just notice... I believe he thought that after he killed Reagan, Foster and him would move into the White House.
Which is totally reasonable. Kind of like squatters of today.

Two questions:
1. I wonder what he thinks about her being a raging lesbian
2. I wonder if he saw the most recent abomination of a season of True Detective where Jodie is a big ole slut

I was listening to a guy talk at one of these Men's Group educational meetings in the basement of our church. And he's telling his story about addiction. And he had been on a cocaine bender somewhere in the DC area (I think he was a lawyer investment banker type).
Anyhow he ended up getting some bad drugs. They found him running naked through traffic freaking out. Ended up sending him to a mental hospital to dry out and be evaluated before some sort of court appearance.
And the guy who is his intake person is interviewing him in his room. He's literally strapped to the bed, and this guy is asking him questions, writing stuff on a clipboard, etc.
And eventually he says to the guy: Don't I know you from somewhere? And the guy says: Well, I am a trustee here and I work in the intake office. But you probably know me as John Hinkley.
And this guy is like: "That was my Eureka moment. That's when I knew I had to get sober. When I was strapped to a bed in a place where John Hinkley Jr had a clipboard.
Anyhow, CSB. But I thought that was funny.

He should have been canceled for good 40 years ago.

This no good frick knew what he was doing that day in 1981. He should have never been let out in the first place.
