Just picked up some low too Vans with hard soles. I've been lifting in old Asics with too much cushion. Curious to feel the difference. Always feels like I've got a wobble in the cushy shoes.

Lifted in Vans for most of the last decade, but recently shifted to Puma and love them.

I wear Xeros now. Feels like I'm barefoot.

Did DL today in the Vans I purchased this weekend. Made a big difference in my stability having a hard, flat surface v. a cushy, tilted surface that I was sinking into.

I use Reebok legacy lifters occasionally for certain squats . You really don’t need angled lifting shoes. They are a huge help if you do a lot of really vertical back squats, front squats, or Olympic lifting. The catch position of heavy snatches and cleans are tough on ankle mobility/achilles.
Any zero drop shoe will work great for normal lifting.

Nike mens Blazer Mid 77 Vintage
I always thought they were goofy to wear for weight lifting, but I'd say more than half of the people I see at the gym wear these particular shoes or something equivalent. I have a couple pairs I wear out, but can understand why they'd be use for weight lifting. The sole is incredibly stiff and the heel counter is rigid from top to bottom. There is not a whole lot of flexibility in these shoes. Nike does make a cheaper version of the shoe that uses a little bit less material, although I imagine the ankle support is probably close to the Blazer. Sole is probably a tiny bit more flexible as well.

I also use some Reebok Legacy. Hated them at first but once I broke them in, I enjoy using them. Only on heavy squat days. Other days I’m just using some Nanos for everyday gym work.
