How is he a solid player? Back it up with stats.

14.8 PER (league average is 15)
128 Ortg
110 Drtg
positive BPM of 1.8
VORP of 0.8
All these average up to at a minimum of a solid player. He's either hurt or worn down. and could probably use a week or two off before the playoffs. But you aren't being fair to say he hasn't been at a minimum a solid role player for us this year.

Everything you posted is saying he's below average.

For sure, but he has a super-critical role on the team, that of the small ball five. Nance plays very good switch defense. What Pels need in addition is for the position getting tough rebounds, providing rim protection, and being a good play finisher. Nance depends on his athletic ability for this. He's played ok, but really hasn't stood out, which is what the Pels need to take their next step as a team.

Someone can't apply stats to context

Stats are not determinative for any player.

The board is inconsistent. People loved Larry not so long ago. He’s a solid player and high character guy.
Because the player himself is inconsistent. When he came back from injury he was phenomenal. Now his athleticism is sapped. It's never black and white.

Not even sure what you're trying to say in this thread. Are you saying he's been playing well enough?

I thought this too but watch closely. Larry may switch on to his guy but rarely does he ever stop them from scoring. yes hes mobile but I wouldn’t say hes played good defense. So if Larry gives you much worse rebounding and offense than JV plus his switching defense is bad or worse than JV- what reason is he playing heavy minutes and closing over JV? And I dont give a shite if hes a high chatacter guy if he plays shite basketball. This high character stuff is so BS. Hernangomez and Temple were also high character but sucked arse on the court.

Val can’t switch which is why Nance plays. Your right, Nance isn’t offering a lot of resistance lately but he’s usually in the right position which counts in Coach Green’s defense.

So why does it matter if Nance is in then? If hes giving you nothing on defense and offense there is no reason to play him. Meanwhile maybe JV isn’t the best switcher on defense but hes giving you great rebounding and inside scoring. To me its just obvious JV is the better option.

Nance looks done, though we've all said that before and he's come back and dominated.
We don't know what's wrong with him right now. It might be a minor injury that he's playing through, and that might get better by the playoffs.
It would certainly seem to be more likely that whatever is bothering him continues to do so until the offseason, but my point is that we don't know.

Someone has to soak up backup minutes at the 5. Even if you increase Val’s minutes, that presents other problems, minutes still need to be allocated. Pels options realistically are Nance, Zion, or Zeller.

Which is why it was so dumb that Griff went out and got someone that is even more unplayable than Billy for a backup 5.
Zeller's presence does nothing for this team.

Hes another “high character” guy that soaks up minutes on the bench. We would probably win a championship if it was based on how many high character guys you have on your roster.

I like Zion in some situations- depends on how hes rebounding. I also think JRE can play the 5 when needed. As bad as Nance has played- I would increase Val minutes, severely decrease Nance, and play more of Zion/JRE at 5. Its too late in the season to try out Karlo in my opinion. Zeller just isn’t good enough. My main issue is constantly closing with Nance- this needs to be eliminated.
