He said 70/80 percent of his players said they would transfer or how much money to stay.....
Is 70/80% of these clowns going pro?
How many would be a camp body in the NFL?

No they would transfer to a school that had a higher NIL offer unless Bama NIL ponies up more money.

No, that’s why they’re trying to maximize their profitability while they still can.

Well they play in the NCAA. They aren't student athletes anymore. They'll go where the money is.

I saw an interview of Saban on the golf channel years ago. His Miami experiences was explained simply by saying if you don’t get the quarterback position right, you’re can’t win in the NFL. He didn’t inherit a good quarterback, and couldn’t get one. Hence, his failure to be successful in Miami.

He could have signed Brees but signed culpepper instead, if I remember correctly

I get where he’s coming from. NIL and the transfer portal have it where coaches have to re-recruit their own players and get them NIL money to keep them out of the portal. At least in the NFL, you have a GM to handle roster moves and contract negotiations. And most key players get signed to multi-year contracts, so they can’t threaten to jump to a new team every offseason if they don’t get their way.
The NCAA is going to need to do something to go limit the wide open free transfer rule to curb the free agency taking over college football. Make transfers have to sit out a year again except situations where their head coach left or got fired. Or maybe a free transfer after their 3rd year. Courts will probably slap that idea down though unless schools were paying players directly and had them under contract that way though

You need someone that can negotiate the best deal for both parties. I believe LSU has navigated the new system as well as any other.
Nick Saban could have utilized the same help that LSU does.
Gordon.
The signs were right in front of him.

He could have had Drew Brees but instead chose Dante Culpepper. He fricked up

He wanted Brees, but Brees wasn’t cleared by Dolphins medical staff due to his shoulder issue.
The rest is history.

It’s so bizarre how quickly the NCAA went from powerhouse to outhouse. I know obviously the SCOTUS ruling; but damn was it that overwhelming as to completely render it a eunuch?

That’s easy to say now, back then there were no indications Brees was going to go on another decade and a half at a hall of fame level. Dude just came off major surgery and was failing physicals.
