Rate increased 82% last year with current provider so looking to change. Anyone have any experience with Homesite Insurance Company or Gulf States Insurance?
Thanks for any input.

Where do you live?
Cajun Underwriters have us an all inclusive quote that was pretty good. USAA was better.
I’ve heard Swyfft mentioned as another giving good rates as well.

Good rates doesn't always mean good insurance. Just sayin'.

I’m in river ridge. Citizens for my wind and hail alone was 4000.
USAA got me to 3400 all inclusive. Cajun was a tick higher at 3750 all in.
Friend of mine got Swyfft which quotes him at about 3k less than he had with Lloyds

I switched to Liberty Mutual. Had a friend who works at Goosehead set it up for me. Had to get something new because the previous carrier went insolvent (one of the many FL based companies) so I had her help me out.
Your best option would be to call and get quotes. If you don't feel like doing most of that leg work, you can use Insurance Network of Louisiana. It's free.

I've called and gotten quotes. Homesite and Gulf States are a couple that have quoted but not familiar with them at all.

IMO, go with a bigger carrier to avoid the risk of needing to find a new one later down the road.

USAA has steadily went up each year. Every year we've owned our house since 2014 we've been behind on escrow because they raise their rates. Our homeowners policy timeframe and mortgage company escrow timeframe is off by 4 months. Escrow goes by Jan-Dec. USAA renews every April. So as a result we are lacking in our escrow account every year.

I wish I could leave them but even with the increase in January I had no other options in Lafourche parish. $2,400 last year now $3,119 for 490k coverage wind fire hurricane.

i wouldn't leave liberty mutual. probably ain't no going back. you're leaving for chicken shite companies not guaranteed to be around in 2 years. look at measures to maybe reduce cost on liberty mutual policy.

Just be aware, there is a good chance when you switch companies they will send out a. Underwriter to look at the home. They could require roof replacement when you swap insurers

Cajun should be around if OP is considering them. It's just a branch of SafePoint who is battle-tested.

Correct, LM/Safeco are closed for business in south La and pulling contracts from agents. They want out and pricing/UW will get their capacity where they want it.

I’m pretty sure all insurance in LA goes up yearly. Doesn’t matter who you have. I’ve never had an escrow surplus due to insurance in the 6 years I’ve been a homeowner. This year my house note is going up $300 a month due to the 72% increase in insurance this year plus the mortgage company ran an analysis and thinks it’ll go up again so they’re adding that figure into the escrow as well. So now my escrow had a fricking shortage of $3000 to catch up on. Ridiculous. Infuriating.
