The only good school district I trust is 98033 and 98004 but looking a little broader. Not going down to Renton or up to bothell

Yeah, if he is in the Seattle area =, he is full of shite. My in-laws have a condo in Seattle and a house in the burbs and have not paid close to that amount.

Yeah, his criteria may be his issue, not price.

Thats a fantastic place to live for a 20 something if you can swing it. Just East of the city.

Bellevue and Redmond have become their own little cities.

Seattle area has some of the best and worst school districts in Washington. If you want a good school district which is important to me, then it’s not doable for 1M. Renton high school is 3/10 in test scores

Population is too big. More competition (more demand) equals out of control prices.

And it will only get worse as our population spirals out of control. We will be at a billion people in the coming decades.

The young generation has been absolutely killed by Biden's economy and inflation.

It's crazy to think of how much harder it is for this generation to achieve the American Dream than just a short time ago.

I guess you don’t live in hcol areas where mortgage is 10k+ a month

You don’t need anything close to 1M income to afford a 10k mortgage.

Some was scammed by small and midsized business owners, a ton went to Ukraine, but most went to Amazon and hedge funds to destroy retail and resl estate.

There were probably 100 threads a year on the OT bitching about home prices from 2017-2021.

1982..petroleum engineer… made 30500.a year… my wife did not work and stayed home to take care of our first child… So family of three …one income.. house cost 72k…interest rates in low teens. Made my own coffee at home… Still do:)

That $30500 is equivalent to $97,500 today. The house would $230k.

Don’t you see the problem there hoss?

Nothing, but it means 50% of the population doesnt face insane housing prices and can find more affordable housing, which is a sizeable portion of the population

I don’t live in one of the top 50 metro areas and I earn slightly higher than the average salary for my state and a smidge over the average for my metro and our average home price is over 5 times my annual salary. The better than average zip codes are 6-7 times it. The top 20-25% zip codes are 8 times it. The top 3-4 zip codes are all well over 10 times it.

I’m old enough to remember when the vast majority of homes in my metro were under $100/sq foot. Now half of them are ~ $200/sq foot or more.

To be fair, work from home is absolutely brutal on younger professionals trying to learn.

Yeah?.. my house cost about 2.4 times my yearly salary.. if that salary is now 97k…well 2.4 is about 235k…but our interest rates were in the low teens…and that was during the 80 oil boom when house in places like Lafayette and midland were ridiculous..
fwiw Zillow values that 1350 square foot house as 170 k now..

Do you know what else keeps labor prices low? Importing millions on illegal aliens like the party you support has been doing.

Also increases housing prices due to more artificial demand. And Corporatist Republicans love an abundance of cheap labor. Support for illegal immigrants is a bipartisan thing at this point.
