You are damn right they were. They came through Ellis Island with their children in tow. They left Ellis Island with the opportunity to pursue the American dream. They did not receive a fricking gift bag from the government.
They went on to farm the land, to survive the great depression. They fed the allied soldiers in ww2.
They loved this country and assimilated into the fabric and culture of society. They came to take part, not take over.
I'm proud of them, their contributions and legacy.

Trump actually advocated this many years ago. Why the heck do we take all these foreign students, then make it a pain in the arse if they want to stay. We should make them citizens the day they graduate and hope they stay and have kids......instead of taking our/their degree home and competing with us in business.

Those poor immigrants become business owners whose children become engineers and doctors.
