I never really understood why we dumped $3 billion on a project that will be irrelevant in 50 years. Coastal Restoration is a scam. It will eventually just erode away... like it already has.
$3 billion would go a long way in fixing our traffic problems and bad roadwork in this state.

I guess Jeff Landry is the owner of Louisiana now. Kiss the ring or die.

CPRA has trumpeted the “decision based on science” motto since its inception and it’s worked to keep the projects (and flow of dollars to different parishes) largely apolitical until now. If they deviate and trash the guidance from the world’s best engineers and scientists, who all agree this is the best path, they can trash all the political goodwill and ease of politics they’ve enjoyed to date and it will be all out war among parishes for dollars every year.
The world’s best scientists and engineers are going to move on and solve other peoples problems if we revert to good ole S LA politics like we do for everything else.
The Plaquemines/St Bernard cabal knows no limits between fighting ports and diversions, both foundational pieces for the financial viability for S LA.

FOLLOW THE MONEY!
1. Make the diversion...who gets that $3 billion?
2. Don't make the diversion... who gets the $3 billion?
Looks like option 2 people have taken control.

This state is ran by incompetent idiots no matter the party. Legitimately some of the stupidest people alive.

Is this another project money was wasted on that isn't going to be complete?

This is fricking stupid.
Dammit Landry.
Dammit Landry.

Doesn’t matter what Landry decides. The erosion will not stop and a people down there that are complaining that it will ruin their way of life won’t have much of a life once water is in their yard.

Plaquemines suing to stop a land-building project because they’re worried about flooding is peak Louisiana.

But at least we brought back the electric chair!
Frick this state, seriously.

Reading through this thread, I have come to the conclusion that Louisiana deserves what it gets. This is such a good microcosm of the state. Also, people comparing us to the Dutch are hilarious. The Netherlands 100 years ago is still light years ahead of modern Louisiana in terms of competence, ingenuity and desire for self-betterment.

Louisiana voted in a Governor that refused to participate in a debate so he wouldn’t ruin his chances to win. Go figure

This is actually a big balls move by the Governor! This diversion woild create 10 times less land than dredging would in less time with less money!
This saves one of the states largest exporting industries and the livelihood of THOUSANDS of residents!!
Anyone who supported this diversion plan is either waiting on a kickback or just an environmental moron!

Bump
Diversion wont affect base flood elevations
Oops, sounds like the main argument against the diversion is out and now we are back to arguing about saving the invasive dolphins with people from Mississippi
