re: WNBA & liberal media are going to be really disappointed when Clark doesn’t “save” WNBA

What were the other reasons besides Clark?
Was this the breaking the record game?
That wasn't normal and not something that had happened before.

do believe Clark and Reese will bring some new interest to the league
How are they different than any previous star womens basketball player?

A large portion of that can be atributed to both schools fans I would think.
Did they have any off the court drama before the game or was it all after?
Also 7 game series vs one and done.
I wonder how it compared to past NBA Game 7s?

Far more exposure.
Reese is all over social media, had her "confrontation" with Clark in the championship and she's a good player. Clark has commercials, breaks records and shoots from the logo which is almost unheard of for women.

Good to see OP getting drug in this thread. This is pathetic.

quote:Complete guess, but I imagine the schools that normally do the winning have much bigger fanbases than LSU and Iowa for women's basketball.

quote:Yes, but that's not really the right comparison. The comparison that is apples to apples here is how much people previously cared vs how much they do now.
Also 7 game series vs one and done.
The ratings for last year's game doubled from the previous year, again. to levels nearly as high as the NBA Finals.
Think back to your OP about whether the WNBA will ever take off...5 years ago, if I told you people would care about the women's college title game basically as much as, or awfully close to as much as the NBA Finals, you'd probably tell me that's crazy and will never happen, right?
I think ultimately they may not "save" the WNBA but there will be some spike in popularity. How big or how long will it be sustained, no clue.

IDK why its so popular here to actively root against the WNBA. I don't personally watch it, but its success or failure doesn't impact me at all. It probably will have an uptick when Clark goes. Some of y'all have daughters, its cool that there is an option to go pro in a sport for them.
Look no further than the thread title for the reasons. It’s all about the poli-cessed crusade against anything that they think is part of the great evil liberal conspiracy.

There’s a list as far back as the 90s of the next “recognizable start power” that was about to come take over the WNBA and it never happened.
Such as?

I like Clark but I doubt she makes much of a difference in bringing fans to support the WNBA. It's a terrible product.

You brought the nba into it. I made no mention of the nba.
People want the nba to be “saved” meaning all of a sudden become this great product that millions upon millions of people are demanding.
That’s simply not going to happen because of one new player. And likely won’t happen ever due to its product.

Tacky you sound like a pathetic incel. If you don't like it don't watch. Just ignore it if it gets you all triggered to post about. Go find something you like. Life is too short to worry about meaningless stuff
Typical knee-jerk.

in 25 years, the WNBA has done nothing to attract the female viewer, while losing a quarter of a billion dollars.
Choosing to be the face of the alphabet mafia was a colossal mistake that they haven't come close to recovering from.
I don't think people want the WNBA to fail, but do take pleasure in failure of the individuals. These individuals are some of the most privileged women on the planet. How many Americans can make 6 figures for a business that has lost money for nearly 3 decades, and yet claim to be a victim.
Lisa Leslie said it best when sitting with Lebron and D Green, "why don't you stop going to the club and give us more money." Somehow they are underpaid and being oppressed while playing a game for 5 months a year.
The fake victim status is exhausting, and watching those who subscribe fail, is pleasing.
Why not hire the Kardashians to advertise for the WNBA, get Taylor Swift on board, film the real housewives in a suite at a game. Do SOMETHING to grow your audience instead of crying about being underpaid or not getting jersey sale revenue from a failing business.

maybe if they used a minor league top model where you are not in major cities trying to compete with other forms of entertainment it might work better
Let's look at the top team last year in Las Vegas Aces
I know it's at different times but they have a NBA team, a hockey team, a NFL team, and about to have MLB.
Did anyone think the market of Vegas would be the best place for a WNBA team?
