As we all know, Jimi Hendrix was a legendary figure in the world of music, leaving behind a treasure trove of iconic tracks that have influenced countless musicians and fans around the globe. It’s probably not a “forgotten gem” but Burning of the Midnight Lamp is the first song that came to mind, and it’s the one that led me deeper into his musical catalog. It’s also the first song where he used the wah-wah effect.

Like a Rolling Stone from the Monterey Pop Festival, with “Bob Dylan’s grandma” in attendance

I'm not sure if this counts as forgotten but I've always been fond of this one
Are You Experienced
And just for fun I'll add this one
Little Wing

Message To Love
A good example of what direction Hendrix was heading at his untimely death. I had a bootleg of a later version (Sept 1970 I think), but can't find it online.

Because I have listened to many Hendrix songs I am uncertain which are considered forgotten gems. But some less played sags I really like are:
Third Stone from the Sun
Castles Made of Sand
I Don't Live Today
May This be Love

This Bold as Love instrumental from the box set is my favorite Hendrix song:
Bold as Love (instumental)
I also dig this Burning of the Midnight Lamp from the same session:

What a talent!

Technically a Buddy Miles song, I really like "Changes" on the Band of Gypsys live album (Buddy is the drummer and singer on this track).

I've always liked his cover of Gloria

Most of the songs mentioned seem rather mainstream Jimi to me, except Pali Gap off Rainbow Bridge. For plenty of deep cuts just listen to the albums The Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge. Cry of Love shows off his songwriting (I like the bluesy Belly Button Window) whereas Rainbow Bridge shows off his guitar skills (Pali Gap and Dolly Dagger are my favs and it has his most produced version of the Star Spangled Banner ever recorded IIRC it was at the Record Plant).

I always liked Stone Free a lot. Are You Experienced may have been the first cassette tape I ever had. I wore it out.

I always liked "You've Got Me Floating" from Axis Bold as Love. Graham Nash sings on it.

Hendrix was the best live show I ever saw. The opening act was Soft Machine. We were all mesmerized.

Band of Gypsy’s was my favorite album.
