re: Brian Kelly didn't learn his lesson, moving Harold Perkins back to ILB again

He would be worse than Louis Oliver in coverage as a safety. He’s a prototype modern inside linebacker.

Just based on the fact that you and Pirate King usually have the shittiest takes on this board, I'm going to agree with Kelly on this one.

So you’re just a grumpy college football fan?
They recruit guys by saying “the path starts here” & “NFLSU”. You have an unrealistic expectation if you don’t want star players to come play here & expect to prepare to be successful at the next level.

Plus NIL. People are clueless how this game has changed.

I think you’re worrying about shite way too early

I get it, I just said I’m tired of hearing it. I would rather him just say that he thinks that is where Perkins is best suited on this team and leave it at that, I don’t need to hear about the NFL.
You say you get it, but then go on to say twice you're tired of hearing it. If you really "got it," you would realize nobody gives a frick about you, what you're tired of, or what you do or do not want to hear. Especially Brian Kelly. He's not talking to you. Or me. Or any of us. He's talking to the 16 or 17 year old next Harold Perkins who is still in high school. And his parents. And they want to hear that this staff considers developing players for the NFL and their long-term futures as priorities. As they should. Not at the expense of winning games at LSU, but the 2 things overlap so much anyway, that the Venn Diagram is basically 2 circles right on top of each other. You're just a bitch getting caught up in the semantics and mistaking that any of it has anything to do with you. Or you don't, in fact, "get it."

Sigh. Somebody already said this. I know Brian Kelly doesn’t care about what I say or think, and he shouldn’t. But this is a message board and I’m just expressing thoughts, not trying to grab the coach’s attention.
I’m sure the coaches talk to recruits about their development and future in the NFL all the time. BK doesn’t have to use Wilson Alexander to relay that message.

Nah, you are just upset because I stated my opinion that I would rather him just say that they think that is where Perkins will be best utilized on the team, instead of hearing about where he’ll be playing in the NFL.

This is where I am at, he is a linebacker, he is not quite a safety. A tweener like him will do himself millions of dollars of favors by learning to be a linebacker.
I really want Perkins to succeed not only for his future but also contributing to the success of the LSU defense. But right now, I am afraid he is a tweener...not big/strong enough to be a LOS guy or even an enforcer type LBer. And even though he is pretty good as a secondary help, he isn't quite up to Jabril Cox type caliber in that regard. John "Chief" Chavis might like him because if I had to put Perkins in a peg/hole, "hybrid" LBer might be his title.

You just said a whole bunch of nothing.

Actually, I just described Perkins status pretty well. Not my problem you don't understand what a tweener is or what has been referred to by some defensive coordinators as a hybrid LBer. I will agree that I don't have a perfect solution where to play Perkins at this point...neither has the LSU staff obviously. I will give you another example of a tweener...from the past...Jacoby Stevens. He wasn't big enough to play LBer and he wasn't a good enough cover guy to play in the secondary.

No, you just don’t understand the linebacker position and are making up terms to try to act as if you do.
Posted on 2/26/24 at 9:53 pm to NotaStarGazer
Perkins is player who fits so many roles. Let him be unleashed by a coordinator who can use him best. But, edge he isn’t. Not big enough.
Posted on 2/26/24 at 9:55 pm to GoldenBoy
The LBer position is not the same for every team. Obviously you haven't grasped that concept. As I stated, Chavis for examples always used a LBer different than most teams...for better or for worst. I'm not making up terms at all. If you followed football, you would recognize "tweener' and "hybrid LBer"...those terms are not new.

Just stop. You’re sounding really stupid.
Posted on 2/26/24 at 10:01 pm to glassman
Yeah, I get tired of people blaming the lack of a pass rush on Perkins not being on the LOS. That is 100% bullshite! It worked when no one had seen the guy play and couldn't immediately figure out how to counteract him (his FR season). But as my brother always says, it is funny how the other side after seeing a guy make plays enough that they come up with a way to take away something. These OC in this case aren't as stupid as some people think. They WILL take away Perkins along the LOS. But that means that the other DT/DE guys should make them pay. That was the problem with LSU's pass rush...no push up the middle, and Swinson was the only outside guy who could rush the passer.

Talk about saying nothing! You made a fool of yourself by obviously not knowing much about football. If you don't know what a tweener is or a hybrid LBer is, might I suggest you pick up a copy of "Football for Idiots".

Again, you’re using those terms with no understanding of what you’re saying. There is no such thing as a tweener LB. When projecting a certain player to the next level, there can be confusion as to what his position will be, hence the label.
The linebacker position has much more coverage responsibilities now and you are confused because you’re using silly terms like “enforcer linebacker” and whatnot.
