Flash coaching credentials and let me decide if I care what you think or not

“He needs to be in the action,” Kelly said in an interview Monday. “He needs to be the (weakside) linebacker. He needs to be in the box. He needs to be active in there. That's where he's going to start, and we've got to get him ready at that position.”
We want to get him in a position where he can impact the defense, where he will play at the next level. I think we owe it to him."
Kelly said where Perkins landed last year will be called the Star in new defensive coordinator Blake Baker’s scheme. It usually gets played by defensive backs and replaces the strongside linebacker in certain packages. Similar to a nickel corner, the Star often has to cover slot receivers.
“He could cover a little bit,” Kelly said. “You don't want him playing the slot man-to-man, but he could get out there and cover. He could blitz off the edge. In Blake's defense, that's what the Star does. But that's not really where we want Harold to be.”
Baker's track record suggests he may be able to unlock Perkins' potential. Former LSU linebacker Damone Clark credited Baker with turning him into the nation's second-leading tackler in 2021.

Patrick Queen was 6’0 ft 230 lbs at the combine. Perkins is 6’1 ft 220

Baker is going to unlock a new level to Perk. Bakers defense revolves around LBs causing havoc, and he’s never had an athlete like Perk to do that with

I don't get where you want this kid to play. He is not an every down edge defender.

He will still be moved around and do other things, I mean ffs he scored a rushing touchdown our last game. Trust the coaches, it's great to have a talent like him.

He’s just not as smart as you, Pirate.

Perkins is too small to play ILB. That was emphasized over and over. Our lack of pressure on opposing QB's was the direct result of Perkins misuse.
What the rant thinks a ILB is still lmao

Oh great guess he'll be dropping into coverage again in 3rd and long

To me he could have been a safety he could have been a ferocious safety blitzer. He can’t cover in the middle now and gets washed out on runs. He needs to get off blocks and not have weak arse arm tackle attempts. He has all the tools and size for safety but needs 10-15# for middle linebacker. His talent in his time he’s had here has been squandered or he just can’t relay his talent into football.

Literally the opposite of what BK said when he was describing the move.

An incredibly clueless post! If you really believe that Perkins would have rushed the passer as a SO like he did a FR, you are amazingly naive. Perkins did so well his TR FR year because of his speed and his surprise factor. Speed is still there but to just lineup along the LOS and expect him to put pressure on the QB now is just...let me put it kindly...STUPID!
Teams know now that if you put a body on Harold Perkins, he is not going to over power that blocker...simply not strong enough. If you want another measure of him not being strong enough, he missed a ton of tackles last season and he was trying to tackle properly and got into position but just wasn't strong enough. The bottom line is his best use is to have him pursue and occasionally surprise blitz. But for some who want him to just announce to everyone, "hey I'm on the LOS and I'm coming", that ship has sailed.

(I’m not comparing Kelly to Hallman, just making a point.)
Said after comparing Curley Hallman to Brian Kelly!

Maybe he knows that’s where he will likely play at the next level?
