Figured I would start a thread early, we should hear about suspensions for Naji and Jose today if they are being handed down as the league has to make a decision before our game tonight.

My prediction, they both get 5 games since they both threw punches. League gives Butler 2 games and Bryant 10 games since he threw the first punch.

How does Butler only get two games?

1) He’s considered a star player so likely go a little easier.

2) He didn’t throw a punch, just shoving mostly. Jose and Naji both threw punches, Jose at Bryant, Naji at Jamie

League gives Zion 10 games because he shouldn’t have tried to make a layup. By trying to score he puts other smaller players in danger.

they can’t blatantly suspend him significantly less than the other players when he’s just as much involved as them. the NBA conspiracy isn’t that strong

There's a clear distinction between suspension lengths when punches are thrown as opposed to not.

do they make a distinction on suspension lengths for people who initiate physical altercations with contact to the neck area and ones who respond?

Yes. Butler pushed Naji.

Naji put his hand around Butler's neck.

NBA is so soft. This is why viewership keeps dropping.

Butler’s contact initiated at naji’s upper chest and ended at naji’s neck. Butlers hand definitely made its way to naji’s neck

Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania
NBA discipline for Pelicans-Heat altercation Friday night:

- Jimmy Butler and Naji Marshall suspended one game each
- Jose Alvarado and Thomas Bryant suspended three games each

Not terrible but shouldn’t the guy who threw the first punch get more than the guy defending himself? Should be 1,1,3 and 5.

I love how there’s no ‘extra’ for instigation…

Ya know, like Jimmy going for Naji first and Bryant walking 3/4 court and swinging at Jose first.

Excellent

All true. And add the part that it’s a Heat bench player on the other side of half
Court (the Pels side), where he had no place being. Sad he gets what Jose gets.

I know we all, myself included, love Jose and Naji having Zion's back and blah blah blah, but this was an awful time for this with CJ out, Dyson out, not sure when BI is returning.

Every game matters, this hurts us, and definitely was not worth it, especially for Jose where the incident was basically over already and he just got himself 3 games for no good reason. Naji’s makes more sense and only cost him 1 game.

Overall, not good.

Bulls are a good, scrappy team. Going to need a big Zion performance tonight to make up for their absences. I could see us dropping this one tonight. Maybe Trey will break out of his slump

You need to go smoke a bowl. Everything will be ok.
