Same. At various motels over the previous 40 years.

While working on the road I would have “ neighbors “ that you could drink a few beers with and share food. People can always bond over food and drink.

The Mexicans loved my Momma’s gumbo when I would have some. I’ve had them shucking oysters out of my truck as I fried. Oyster Tortillas.

Come legally and it's fine.

Spoken from a place of privilege that doesn’t fully comprehend what this means and how unnecessarily lengthy the process is. Or the circumstances the people faced.

I’ve known good, hardworking people that migrated from the Middle East decades ago. U.S. citizens now, but it took years to complete the process to get here legally. One family, in the meantime, were country hopping to escape the war zone in Iraq in the 90s and the military from ripping away the father for a war he didn’t believe in. 2 young children along for the ride and the pregnant wife later delivered another. Fortunately, they finally made it, and the kids are now thriving adults.

How many others weren’t so lucky though?

Put yourself in their shoes and imagine how this impacts a family. How it impacts children. This is just one story - there’s countless more, and much worse, among immigrant families from all over the world.

Spoken like someone who sees the costs to US citizens of illegal immigration.

But they completed the process, right? The legal process?

It is absurd to think we have to take in every person who wants to come here. There are hundreds of other countries that can take them as well. Those from Central America have multiple countries they have to cross through to get here. The can seek asylum there. There is no right for foreign citizens to immigrate to the US. There are billions of sad stories throughout the world, we are not the fix for all of them. We already have an underclass that we spend trillions on, we need not import millions more through a catch and release joke of a process.

They are building a new home behind mine. The Hispanics workers took a dump in my neighbor's wooded backyard 3 times last month. Even though they had a port-a-poty out front. I guess it was busy or they didn't want to use it because it was close to the street and other workers. The crappy part is they just left all that dirty toilet paper in the yard. Since it is wooded it would take forever to biodegrade since it wouldn't get rained on.

They also stripped the paint off a thousands $ large transmission pole. The paint was protecting the metal pole from rust. Look like they were just bored on a lunch break and when they did it.

How many are you willing to invite into your home. I’m going to go out on a limb and say zero, the most hypocritical person on the face of the earth is a bleeding heart liberal.

If this was in the UK, maybe. If it was in the US, then no, they need to learn American English.

Cool story, bro.

NOW in the interest of equal time, let's talk about the people crossing the border illegally who assault, rape and murder American citizens who would otherwise be living happy lives if not for the thousands of bad invaders crossing over unchecked and unregulated.

They did back then, though I’d imagine it’s different today. They had to go on a dangerous and harrowing path just to survive long enough to see it through. Your original post was to “come legally” - my point is it’s not that simple when faced with death or worse. The process, like anything involving our government, leaves much to be desired.

Ah yes, a typical jab where this compliment is parroted in a pejorative manner. Empathy and compassion are core character traits that serve me well and that I’m quite proud of, so I’ll wear that as a badge of honor. Thanks!

Funny thing, the term ‘bleeding heart’ has roots in the image of Christ’s sacred heart. It’s ironic how so many conservatives boast about their faith but miss that point. I’m not religious myself, but I guess I’m more aligned with Jesus than they are. So…who’s the hypocrite?

Why couldn't they go to any other country more proximate to theirs, one less cumbersome in the process?
