The city of BR needs us to weigh in about Government Street.

It seems like they are admitting that they don’t know what to do and need our help after shrinking a major E/W artery and wasting tax dollars.

Turn them into those little library boxes. Everyone loves those.

Rip them out and go back to 4 lanes

Expand that to cover the whole parish since everyone is covering freight for BR, Fred.

I like the road diet with the center turn lane, but do not like the flower beds in the middle

Just another of the 1000000000000 cases of the Government fricking up the very thing they said they were going to fix.
And we seriously have a bunch of retards that think giving the government more power and control will make things better.

This is actually LADOTD.
The road project was a state project. The city of Baton Rouge will take over maintenance after it's fully constructed.
City of Baton Rouge has been complaining about issues with construction and landscaping. And I'm sure they also don't want to pay to totally rework what the state screwed up.
And frankly even if the state didn't screw it up, the city doesn't want to spend the money anyways. You've seen how our local streets look. They aren't much better than our neglected state routes.

SG isn’t supposed to have a say so.

I agree. The medians are in the worst spots and need to be removed all together. Make it a “three lane” with a center turn lane.

What, was was the $15 mill they spent for use studies incorrect ?
Raiford is an absolute joke.
He has been on the EBR payroll for 40 + years, and was appointed by his daddy.

Make the neck bearded, open mouthed photos, hipsters take turns maintaining the beds on their weekends.

Agree. But every once in a while put in a small jump.

Agreed. The center turn lane makes a BIG difference in making left turns out of the side streets too.

The fundamental flaw in this whole thing, IMHO, is that there is no easy way into North Blvd, their preferred east-west thoroughfare, from most directions.
If they had cut that through to Rebel Drive when the property opened up, that would have worked. But putting BRCC right there made traffic worse by adding more cars and cutting down ways to go west that don’t involve Government.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion here, but the new arrangement is actually helping traffic counts and has reduced accident counts. The street is much easier to drive than before, save for when the three area high schools and one grammar school let out in the afternoon. That was always a cluster.
The flower beds would be better off with something else planted, but lots of cities have these.

Then Fred shouldn’t say that BR should weigh in on this because they’re paying for it. Because it was made clear in court SG is paying for BR’s shite.

This...but then the Dodge Chargers will...well, use your imagination.

Not for long.
Chrysler stopped producing them. It means we will find the Nissan equivalent of them soon.
