I like to use canned diced fire-roasted tomatoes because I feel the smoky flavor really complements the other ingredients

Mmm. Chipachole or sopa de mariscos.

Might be good, but it isn't gumbo. Might as well call it lasagna, or, hell, grill steak.

I would eat it but it definitely isn’t gumbo.

It does look good.
But it doesn't look like good gumbo.
Looks like some sort of mediterranean dish.
I'd eat it. But I won't call it gumbo.

I concur with everyone. Looks good.
But that's no gumbo!

That's one delicious looking Spanish stew
Posted on 2/16/24 at 9:43 am to CAD703X
she is trying to sneak one through by calling it Cajun-Creole gumbo.

That picture doesn't match the linked recipe really at all. The picture looks like something that would be rather appetizing as a sort of tomato based type stew, but certainly not a gumbo. They don't have shrimp in the recipe.
What they show in the actual recipe photos looks putrid.

It sure doesn't. This is the link to the step by step for the recipe.

my bad,
I mean, it's not even really. THAT was the picture that THEY showed to highlight the recipe.
I actually want the recipe for what they pictured.

Place oil in saute pan over high heat.
Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
Add tomato paste and stir. Cook until fragrant, approximately 1 minute.
Add flour and stir to combine.
Transfer contents from saute pan to the slow cooker.
Pour in chicken stock and tomatoes.
Add chicken and sausage.
Stir in salt, black pepper, Cajun seasoning, thyme, oregano, cayenne, and bay leaves, and slow cook on high for 3 hours.
Add okra to slow cooker and continue cooking for 30 minutes until okra is tender.
Garnish gumbo with scallions and gumbo filé, if desired, before serving.
Nothing like a good tomato paste roux and more tomatoes on the back end...
Finished product picture. As said earlier, looks like a decent slow cooker chicken and tomato stew, but not a gumbo by any means.

shite. If you zoom in on the pick, it looks like an oily mess:

That looks almost as bad as the bennie wennie gumbo that a buddy served in TN.
