Airline to begin weighing passengers and carry-on baggage

quote:

(Gray News) – Finnair said it will begin weighing passengers and their carry-on baggage at the departure gate to optimize the aircraft’s balance calculations.

The airline said in a news release, weighing is voluntary and anonymous.

“We record the total weight and background information of the customer and their carry-on baggage, but we do not ask for the name or booking number, for example,” Finnair Head of Ground Processes Satu Munnukka said.

“Only the customer service agent working at the measuring point can see the total weight, so you can participate in the study with peace of mind.”

The data recorded will be sent to the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency for confirmation and will then be used for aircraft balance and loading calculations for future flights between 2025-2030.

According to the airline, each plane has a set maximum weight that cannot be exceeded to ensure a safe take-off.

The weight of the aircraft includes the weight of the aircraft itself and its fuel, checked baggage and cargo, onboard catering, water tanks and passengers.

That's great and all, but I've seen walruses that should in the the ailse at the plane's center of gravity.

As people get fatter they can’t assume weights any more for weight and balance.

You get a flight going to a fat people or comic book convention and you might not make it too far past the end of the runway.

This is something no guy gives a shite about but every woman is mortified.

I took a helicopter flight once and they weighed everybody at the helipad because they have to assign seats based on precise weight balance in a helicopter. The men just hopped on the scale like it was NBD and the women all had panic attacks even though nobody could see the scale except for the gate agent.

Good. Once they see the numbers my fat-arse posts, it will ensure I have an entire row to myself. Pass me the skittles, slim.

Two things I know with absolute certainty

#1 Do not touch a black woman's hair without permission.

#2 Do not put a black woman on a scale in public commerce.

Imagine this outcome x 10!

Hopefully this is the start of a trend.

It'll mean a lot less fat asses getting on flights and taking up 2 seats b/c they're so slothingly obese.

Any flight between Jackson, MS and ATL will be at capacity of 350lb females. I'm often the only honky on the flight. It's scary as airlines use a weight of 170lb per person for fuel planning purposes.

All we need is someone to lie about their weight or stuff themselves at the airport Chili’s and the plane has to land at another airport because in the name of fuel economy the airline only allowed us to put x amount of fuel for the passengers and luggage that were declared. Unfortunately someone ate too much between checkin and takeoff. We used too much fuel to get airborne. We will be making a pit stop on our way Oslo.
