Wade was sacrificed to get LSU off with lighter penalties…especially with the bell cow (football) being part of the investigation.
That's the part of the equation everyone is forgetting, or choosing to ignore.

Let's say we stood firm with Wade, and football got hit hard. No reason to think it wouldn't, they had already voided out a few of Miles' seasons, and were poking around in the Guice stuff. Those were shots across the bow. Somebody had to go down.

Yeah and let’s forget Wade absolutely destroyed the program on his way out.

People forget Wade was also a horrible game day coach.

The only advantage he had was buying players. Since buying players is no longer an advantage he is average as frick.

frick slimy Will Wade for destroying the program and anyone who supports him

Trent Johnson inherited Marcus Thornton , Garrett temple , and Tasmin Mitchell . McMahon is most likely not the guy but let’s not take his first year and compare it to CMMs first . That’s three all sec type guys that had tons of experience

The team also included future NBA player Chris Johnson.

SC is the flavor of the month. We have no idea if their coach can sustain this but he has done a good job this year - his team was picked to finish last and thought to have little talent by most who cover the beat. Less than even us they said.

Would be really cool if that was LSU this year, flavor of the month, and we could enjoy the season and relax a bit and hope. I’d take that in a heartbeat over what this season has been.

He is currently 21-3.

He has had success at LSU, VCU, and now McNeese.

That is a power 5, mid major, and bottom tier school. He has won at every level in CBB.

You are obviously a moron

As would I JR. One can acknowledge holes in the roster and relative talent, debate the reasons why - as we have ad nauseum, and still make a reasonable judgement on how we perform relative to all that. Are we overachieving, underachieving or playing at about the level we can reasonably expect.

And at the end of the year we can judge accordingly and still have different views of it and undoubtedly will.

21-3 at Louisiana-Lake Chuck... that don't impress me much!

I read that Wade only had one returning player from last season. The rest are transfers and true freshmen.

& he’s playing 20+ games against Q4 teams.

Don’t act like his roster could compete in the SEC

Yall are both right

Brady mailed it in after the final 4, kept trying to press forward without a legit PG. He also openly flirted with NC State. The 06-07 season was just as if not more disappointing than 15/16 given we began the year top 10 off a final 4 appearance. Then in 07/08 Taz and Johnson got injured, Baby was in the pros and the wheels came off only for Butch to step in and lead them to a few surprise wins. (Like @ Florida)

If 06/07 hadn’t been such a disappointment he would’ve probably got another year

You have to factor in the possible NCAA sanctions that might have kept players away. I’m really not worried about the Men’s BB program turning around this year. If things look the same in year three then I would start to become more concerned.

frankly my excitement is getting cheap to free tickets to the bball games that I can take my family and friends with.

CKM ruined it for us by making WBB great again. Gone are the days when we could walk in after the game started and the ushers would be like dont bother getting tickets, its empty in there.

Why?

Yes, a great job. Although he had more than 1 returning player. Doesn’t really matter if he can bring in better players every year from the portal. Which he can do at Mcneese

I think MM gets a break on first year. We literally had zero idea what could happen to the program.

But yes, year three we must be better in SEC play

Last year it was gates, tang and jans.
This year it’s Paris and beard. The reality is that you can build good teams from the portal early, but sustained success comes from recruiting, which does take a few years to show dividends.
For the record, I think tang and Paris are very good. What Paris has done with a roster that isn’t more talented than ours is exceptional.

Why can south Carolina turn it around in 2nd year, but yeah MM gets 3 years to do something. Why in the hell does he get a pass and that's acceptable by everyone, watch the games time for him to go he doesn't work hard enough in recruiting, games, practice that's obvious look at there record. I've said it before if coaches can get players to some of these other no name college's and win then MM needs to work harder getting them to LSU,and show some fricking passion like you care.

They used this same line with Mizzou last year but look at them this year. They suck. Sometimes the coaches hit it with the portal. Sometimes they miss. SC wasn't under investigation were they. I'm going to give MM a little leeway due to the circumstances surrounding the program when he came in. I'll see where he ends up at end of the year and how next year goes before wanting to replace him. All I know is they said they wanted Beard and they used Mizzou as an example last year. MM beat both of them this year.

I believe this to be 100% correct. But it’s a hard pill for a lot of us to swallow watching other programs have early success. Whether McMahon is good or not has nothing to do with how fast gates, tang, jans, beard, or Paris reached the ncaa tournament.
