Split decision with Roberts being the swing vote.

Got to be 8-1 as there is only justice that can't define what a woman is.

She seems to be a bit uppity

Once again, Trump has attorneys who can take a good case and present it less than competently. I think he wins, but because the justices see it is a cut and dried legal decision, not because he was at all convincing. He keeps losing the plot and is not presenting a consistent argument.

I'm not so sure it is a good case. Their claim about Trump not being an "officer" seems pretty thin to me.

Without knowing the context, why is that thin? Civilian control of the military is one of our bedrocks.

It's not about military officers.
Trump's team is trying to say that only an appointed official who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution can be an "officer of the United States", while elected officials who have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution cannot.

Well, that's how Trump communicates.
And I would imagine that he exerts a high degree of control over his attorneys and limits how he allows them to communicate.

Listened to 5 minutes of oral arguments.
This will easily be 7-2 or 8-1, with the justices hitting hard on the fact that there was no conviction (a case pending is not disqualifying).
Still goes against their previous decision that states should decide how they run elections.
But the Supreme Court can go against its own precedent nowadays, so it's not a surprise.

Both the House and the Senate voted to impeach Trump for inciting an insurrection. They just didn't have the two-thirds required to censure him.

You don't understand, at this point I'm thinking the best possible outcome is for Trump to win the presidency. His supporters are so unhinged, I'm afraid that anything short of that will turn them loose on the country.

Read the Constitutional definition of "Officer" and try again ......

Post it and make your point.

Because Trump supporters have been the ones engaging in violent protests and burning down cities for years.

You are wrong, here.
Running elections and taking away constitutional vested rights are not comparable

If you want a rational discussion, don't be hyperbolic.
Besides, your post is avoiding the point. To say, "But they do it too!" isn't not a valid refutation.
