I would say something but I get chastised for being a Will Wade knob slobber. This has nothing to do with Will Wade. McBland is not the guy, he’s over his head, can’t recruit, and nothing & nobody is coming. I mean elite talent. We use to talk about WW can’t coach, plays street ball, and bash 5*s for playing bad. The Fighting MCBlands now say they play tough, they’re getting better, that’s hogsht. I was watching something else on TV, my wife said remember the game is on , I flipped over and WE are down 22 in the first half, went back to watching Peaky Blinders (great show by the way).
I played basketball was all state AA not great but ok, I love basketball but I wish someone in the McBland camp can tell me what they see that makes them think this situation gets better. Serious question answer it without using WW in the answer.

you know he wasn’t fired right? He also went to the elite 8 and had a winning record in the NCAA tourna

That is correct but the fan base wanted him gone and Florida didn't try to keep him On your second part, the rest of the story. 1 NIT appearance 1 Elite 8 as you mentioned 2 years of no tournament at all and 3 years where he won 1 game in the NCAA and lost the second game. Not remotely impressive!

That guy has no idea what he’s talking about. Doesn’t know shite about basketball talent or recruiting under McMahon. Next year he’ll be singing the same tune about “muh no talent, needs to get his players in hurr durr”

Amazing y’all are okay with this lmao

What the frick does this mean? Ok with what?

It’s just reality Tennessee is really good and we aren’t. I knew when Wade was fired given the situation at the time they weren’t going to get a big name ( like Kelly, Mulkey Johnson). If McMahon turns it around great, if he doesn’t then we’ll be in a position to make a better hire.

guys that piss and moan about Wade being fired and Woodward and McMahon. Every.fricking.game crack me up.

They’re so dug in against him, it doesn’t matter how many facts you bring to the table.

I will give you another coaching comparison...not in basketball. Curley Hallman built his reputation at Southern Miss on a relative unknown guy at the time by the name of Brett Favre. Of course, LSU hired him for beating FSU in a huge upset, etc. McMahon built his reputation on Ja Morant in an mid-level conference. I bet Morant wasn't heavily recruited and he fell in McMahon's lap just like Favre did into Hallman's lap. If you dig deeper, there is no evidence that Hallman was ever a good coach nor McMahon will be either. Sometimes...you just get lucky!

Would 2 kids in the top 75 in the nation be considered elite?? God you are an idiot.

Mercy Miller is due for a huge boost in his ranking and had 62 and 68 point games this year.

McMahon has recruited at a high level so far, regardless of your opinion. He has also immensely overachieved so far this year considering how atrocious everyone thought we were going to be. LSU is not a blue blood basketball program so I’m not really understanding what your expectations are for a school that took a risk on a mid major coach that has great potential but also needs to learn how to coach at this high of a level. I don’t think anyone should disagree that he is indeed growing into that role. This year team has everything you didn’t think McMahon was capable of. Fight, grit, promise and they bring a lot of energy too. He can even develop players! Just sit back and stfu.

I actually said they have immensely overachieved compared to most of this boards brilliant preseason projections. Context, you should try it.

Pretty typical of you to take this out of context. Let’s go back and see how many of you thought we would win 4 conference games this year.

Media picked us to finish, what, 11th in the SEC?

It has NOTHING to do with his actual coaching ability and results (or lack thereof). He’s rarely beaten anyone with a pulse and (moral victories aside) gets routinely dominated by good teams. It actually has nothing to do with McMahon himself. The unwavering support is solely borne out of disdain towards those who continue to glorify Wade. That’s it. Nothing more.

While I hate to bring politics into a basketball discussion, it’s akin to those who despise people who love Donald Trump. The unwavering support of “their guy” is not based upon any meritorious grounds or history of accomplishments. It strictly based upon a feeling of “I fully support anyone who is against the person I hate”. In this instance the person(s) they hate are those who constantly continue to sing Wade’s praises.

It ultimately just leads to a lot of illogical opinions/discussions

And picked us 8th last season with less talent. Wonder why we were picked so low with so much more talent this season?

had exactly three players from Wade's team and one of them hadn't played a minute(Miller) because he was injured the entire year.

Technically, we had 6.

Mwani Wilkinson 34 games 824 minutes played
Justice Williams 20 games 211 minutes played
Parker Edwards 7 Games 35 minutes played
Brandon Egemo 5 Games 9 minutes played
Adam Benhayoune 2 Games 1 minutes played
Adam Miller 0 Games played

ETA: Not saying they were good. Just pointing out who returned. Also, the guy who keeps saying half the roster returned is math-challenged since 6 of 17 guys is not close to half and the only guy who was a starter for more than 1 game was Wilkins.

The only decent player in that group was Williams...rest are bench warmers.
