Or maybe it’s years of our own media crying Russian collusion and generating false evidence to such in an effort to derail and persecute a sitting US president. After a while an old dog just loses its teeth and it just doesn’t seem like much of a threat. And he's not a journalist, by the way. Fox's lawyers successfully protected him from defamation suits by arguing that any reasonable viewer approaches his commentary with skepticism and therefore because it's just opinion it's not subject to even being called false for legal purposes.
As for what's legal in Russia, it's not legal there to report on the war unless you're echoing Kremlin talking points. Putin doesn't tolerate journalists, but he loves PR flacks.

We started that war buy putting Zelenskyy in power and tried to bring Ukraine into NATO. This was Putins Cuban missile crisis … all he asked was to stay off his border. We would’ve invaded Cuba If they put the missiles in Cuba just like he invaded once he knew Biden/ globalist weren’t stopping expanding NATO onto his border. People need to wake up . Putin isn’t a globalist and they want him dead. Our biggest enemy is Washington DC …. Not Moscow
