It happens but it’s much harder to get away with than in the past when transactions were mainly paper apps. Every single transaction we process that involves cash or check is monitored heavily.

Have an attorney sent a certified letter to the agent’s office requesting his E&O policy.

the OP already admitted there was never an actual lapse in coverage

He won’t be back to state it blew it up and everything was easily corrected, costing him zero dollars

Yes, pay an attorney to request a copy of the E&O policy. He will be shaking in his boots.

That was my guess... People's inability to own up to their irrational behavior is nothing new.. I've been in the biz for 15 years now and the OP reminded me of a few customers I've I countered through the years...

I can understand the frustration. But the lies started with the title. Said it cost him thousands and then says 1,400 without even pursuing a simple solution from the carrier and or the agent. I’ve resolved issues like this easily with an email or call to the dmv.

The OP knew he would rally the retards on this board, and boy did he.

What? You mean this wasn’t sound advice? I bet attorneys love these threads

It’s so bizarre seeing people bitch about rates but be so sue happy. Never seen so many people threaten to sue over the dumbest shite. Good luck going against fortune 50 legal departments over things that could’ve been resolved like adults.

Funny you think that’s how that works

Funny you think I'd call the public number.

Call the former chief counsel or a dpty comissioner.

Let's just say since the days of Champion insurance I have a special hatred in my heart for all insurance companies and agents.

Never heard of them. Bizarre to me to hate an entire industry and profession but hey that’s life. Btw, I’m an agent

Very similar thing happened to me. Went in for a "policy review" where they are really trying to see what else they can sell you, I have a vintage Motorcycle that i pay $5/year to insure but I never ride, but do not want to give up the antique plate.

Agent says I can suspend coverage and keep plate. I don't want to do it, but I finally relent. Agent ends up cancelling the policy and DMV sends me notice. I assumed that the agent was competent and it was a mistake, after another two notices from DMV, I tell agent just to undo whatever suspension to get DMV off my back, they issue another policy. I went to DMV this year and find out i need to pay $800 to get my license renewed because of the lapse in coverage. Still waiting to see what Agent to call me back to see what he will do. I doubt he will do anything, so just be weary, I should have trusted my gut initally and just kept the $5/ year policy.
