My nomination for worse tackle attempt of the year by LSU.
Omar Speights on TE Wright of A&M. 8:50 mark
Speights missed tackle on sideline

I think of D Harris missing that easy tackle (was also 10 yards off the los ffs) every time I remember last season or see articles about Ole Miss and Mizzou—both of whom would have been ranked lower than LSU if there was just one Q4 stop in that game.

Looking forward to this season tho.

This place doesn't like talking about how much of a liability Major Burns is

Literally bear hugging them would have been better

Both.

But, that could describe the whole defensive effort and more importantly defensive coaching for the entire season.

I don't mind pointing out Major Burns' liabilities. Same football clip as with Speights earlier but at the 4:30 mark. Everyone makes mistakes but I can't count the number of times that Burns either had no clue where the ball was and/or slipped down. I remember about a 60 yard pass play vs Alabama where he slipped down a couple of seasons ago. To his credit, I believe he tackled the guy at the LSU 10. He isn't even an SEC caliber starter but there we are.

Major Burns twisted like a pretzel

Alot, and now go to the weekday crowd. Crickets.

Gamethread posters and Score Board posters were saying it all season but the Monday to Friday crowd, crickets, but I guess that is normal.

Burns is the worst safety at LSU since 2000 and I stand by that. He's worse than Karnell Hatcher and Danny McCray and was a MAJOR part of the reason we sucked arse last year on D. All time favorite play was when he had a big hit that a dude broke for a first down and was flexing and then two plays later he was wobbly and had to be taken out of the game. Can't remember the game, maybe Florida or something.

Shiiiiiiiiit

It was brought up in a thread the other day.

Like I said though, I'm kinda hopeful/ curious that he'll improve with better coaching/ schemes.

Pssst

Your Youtube links are going to the beginning of the video, not directly to the plays you're referencing. Give us a time, hoss. That "copy link at time" or whatever isn't always reliable.

eta

Psst (to myself)

I'm a dumbass. D'oh

I hope so too man but the level of improvement will have to be substantial.

Like IMO, I'm talking one of the greatest improvements by and LSU player ever. I remember thinking how arse Skylar Mays was his freshman year. Year 2, he was a big piece on the SEC Championship team.

Most improved player I have ever seen at LSU.

Major Burns is gonna have to show that level of improvement to even just be a decent SEC safety. I just don't have hope he can do it.

it was a horrible missed tackle, and I said at that exact moment that we were going to lose that game - which of course we did. Not only did he allow the 1st down, that missed tackle cost us 30 yards. Gamechanger.

Just a terrible effort and fundamentally garbage. Make the tackle, force Ole Miss to go for it on 4th down. If we make those stops, we would've had very high odds to win that game.

Got to make plays, especially on important 3rd downs.
