Grover Cleveland is the only president who left the White House and returned four years later for a second term (22nd and 24th POTUS).

Is there any way to construe the 22nd Amendment to allow Trump to run again in 2028 if elected?

The drafter’s intent was not to keep the electorate from letting a person return, but to keep a someone from remaining in consecutive terms to where it was essentially a monarch (like FDR).

I voted for the man twice and expect to do so again, but at some point y'all are going to recognize that there are other people capable of running the country (Joe Biden ain't one of them) and move along from Trump.

No, rules were changed after FDR. Four more years of wear and tare would be enough even for him. Not many on this board could handle the constant barrage. Back stabbing from the RINO plants would be the worst.

Have a downvote sir. No. No. No.

Two terms is plenty for a president. America is bigger than one person. Always has been. Always will be.

Of course. Everyone knows no amendment in the constitution is absolute. If "shall not be infringed" means tons of gun regulations, restrictions, and bans are okay, then the wording of the 22nd amendment allows for reasonable term limit extensions. I'd say 3 to 4 terms is reasonable, unless there is a pandemic or war, then you could go to 6 or 7

If he was vice president and the President died, he could serve 2 years of the deceased President's term.

Wouldn't surprise me if he tried, and the Cult would probably be ok with it.

You must be a writer for The Atlantic. Because those cats got the TDS so bad they make some monumental leaps on wordplay.

Yes, he can run. He just can't be elected. From a constitutional standpoint, it would be interesting to see how that all worked out.

There’s nothing in the constitution that says he can’t run again in 2028. The guy is in incredible shape for his age and as sharp as ever. I think he would be the best candidate to run in 2028 since Deadbeat DeSantis showed his true colors this election.
