Isla Mujeres Day Trip from EPM

Wife (no pics) and I are staying at EPM and are wanting to do a day trip to Isla. Has anyone used an excursion company to do this? If so, I'll take any recommendations!

no idea what EPM is I assume it’s in Cancun
Couple weeks ago we took a catamaran from the harbor to the island for a day trip, they drop you at the north end
immediately abandon that area, it’s pretty tacky and crowded. Rent a golf cart from one of the many vendors and head south. On the way back take the seaside road.
the island is beautiful once you get away from the touristas. Bring pesos

EPM = Excellence Play Mujeras
OP, just take a taxi from the resort to the ferry. No need for an excursion company. In fact, that’s the allure of Isla.

There’s an excursion company on the premises at EPM, or at least there was when we stayed there in 2014. We went through them for a snorkel trip and Isla Mujeres day trip.

How long did y'all get on the island?
Posted on 1/30/24 at 12:47 pm to lovethetigers7
We did the Adventure Group. It was a good mix of boat time, snorkeling and time on the island. Drank a ton of Victoria Beer on the boat. Would do it again

Have seen countless recommendations on Isla Driver Robby
Posted on 1/30/24 at 3:08 pm to jmorr34
Looked them up and they seem legit! Thanks for the heads up

Taxi to the ferry or use Isla Driver Robby. They’ll pick you up and bring you over on a boat and give you a private golf cart tour of the island. Highly recommend.

Places to hit.
1) I enjoy Playa Norte. There are some good eating spots on Hidalgo Street
2) Punta Sur - there are paths along the water and there's some violent water and a lot of iguanas on the path
3) Get a breakfast mojito at The Joint which is near Punta Sur
4) Hit Soggy Peso for lunch and a margarita. Be forewarned - the margaritas are STRONG
5) Don't eat at the beach bars along Playa Norte. The service is terrible and the prices are high for Isla.
6) You can rent a golf cart to hit the spots above. Do not drive with a drink in your hand or impaired as they take that stuff seriously.

I've taken a taxi to the mall from there. The resort will call you a car. I think it was like $50 roundtrip, but the mall was farther away than the ferry.
You should be able to go from Punta Sam, right by the resort.

we ate at the black pearl and thought it was excellent. The joint and soggy peso as mentioned above are also good

My wife and her mother did a tour with Robby. They had a blast and learned a lot which is a bit surprising considering we’ve been the island a half dozen times or so.

Isla Driver Robby hits all of these places, as well as some off the beaten path spots.

They also solve that problem for you

We used the company that's onsite in the lobby at Excellence. It was a wonderful time. Most of the couples were our age (a couple of older couples though), and like 50% of them happened to be from NOLA/BR and went to LSU.
Only thing to keep in mind is that after Isla, they stop in the water on the way back to Playa to let you dive in and swim for a while.
We thought we were booking literal transportation so we were in regular clothes, LOL. Guess there was a pamphlet we missed.
The ferry is probably fine if you're just trying to get there, but it wasn't quite what we were looking for.

Just go through concierge to get a cab to the ferry. Take the quick ferry ride to Isla Mujeres. Get off and immediately go left past all the people trying to sell stuff or do tours. Theres several beach bars that way, have a couple drinks then rent a golf cart. The guy is going to want to keep your drivers license, ended up being totally fine. Drive the golf cart down to Mikes Pizza, El Burracho Burro, The Joint, etc and have a great time

Go to the green demon beach club. Went to a wedding on isla in May and went here every day we were there. Staff is very friendly. They were putting tequila in a water gun and giving everyone free shots

I also recommend Isla Driver Robby if it’s your first time on Isla. My recommendation if you book them is to let them know early on your trip what it is you’re wanting to do. Otherwise, it’ll be very generic. If you want to bar hop let the driver know and they’ll skip some of the more blah stops. Definitely do punta sur it’s amazing. And as someone else said, take pesos, they go further on Isla.
