Some news that came out yesterday.
Kroger may leave JTG Daugherty Racing for Gibbs.
JTG has been rumored to be interested in selling their charter for several years. What happens to Brad Daughtery? Is this the window JR Motorsports needs to finally get into the charter business? What happens to Ricky Stenhouse?

I’ll be close to Krogers HQ today, I’ll ask them what’s going on.

I hope so.

Agree he is good for sport. But I don’t like he’s aligned with Denny and Bubba.

Wonder if NASCAR will help get Jr. into the Cup Series.
I still believe the following happens.
Stewart-Haas sells 2 charters, the 10 and 41
Kaulig sells the 31 charter. (Hemric moves to the 16 full-time).
Trackhouse buys one and puts SVG in the 97.
23XI buys one for Corey Heim (I'll guess the 67).
Legacy and RFK will get in a bidding war for the last one.
I'll go ahead and say RFK wins and puts Justin Haley in the 29.
Riley Herbst moves to the 51 full time.
Chase Briscoe moves to the Wood Brothers who fire Harrison Burton.
Preece will get let go from Haas. Stenhouse and Gragson will effectively switch if JTG becomes Jr. Motorsports. 47 becomes 88 with Gragson driving. Stenhouse goes to the 14 (like Tony tried to do over a decade ago).
Didn't have JTG breaking up on my silly season bingo card.

Junior said a couple of weeks ago on his podcast that the cost of a charter is just way too high for him and the only way he could do right now it is with a money backing partner, which he isn’t something that he is even’t remotely interested in.
I don’t see him making the jump until the owners and NASCAR work out the revenue sharing that they have been negotiating for a while. He has even said it doesn’t make sense to buy a charter until that mess is worked out

He's really kicking himself for not buying that Furniture Row charter back in 2018.

I think so also. Don’t believe anyone saw the price of those charters skyrocketing like that.
But rumor is the price for them have fallen significantly because of the uncertainty of the charter agreement. The original contract/agreement for the charters is about to expire and there hasn’t been much movement between the owners and NASCAR to renew that

At this point charters need to be permanent. I get why NASCAR doesn't want to, but you've allowed the value of race teams to climb. Ripping them from the teams is absolutely cruel.
You opened Pandora's box. Can't put it back in.

The charter system restricts competition from new teams.

If Honda joins NASCAR (like it is rumored), NASCAR will unload 4 new charters.
Want new owners, the charter system needs to be permanent.

Corey Heim is Cup ready honestly. I suspect he will drive a third entry at 23XI next year, or replace Nemechek at Legacy. Nemechek is a lock for Gibbs when Truex retires.

Agree to disagree. It's not much different from what F1 is doing to Andretti.
Posted on 4/23/24 at 2:55 pm to FightinTigersDammit
F1 is an elitist group that does not want someone new. They're fine with someone new taking over an existing team. An 11th team? Nah.

That's a thin line you're walking on, brah.

Imma walk it, brah.

I can see the playoffs where Denny is eliminated and the last spot to advance to final 4 is Bell or Reddick. And Hamlin takes out Bell (or interferes) allowing his owned car to make it through. I imagine those hard core Bell fans would quit the sport. Its going to happen, where Hamlin impacts things in favor of his owned team. Then pundits will finally talk about it.
You mean like Dale Sr was doing for his 2 drivers when he died ? I agree if you own a car you should be driving it.

Like I said, well just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Double hell no.
