Amelia Earheart’s plane may have been found claims ex-US Air Force pilot

But Tony Romeo, a pilot and former US air force intelligence officer, told the Wall Street Journal on Friday he may have solved the mystery after he collected a sonar image of what could be an aircraft as part of his quest to find Earhart’s plane.
A sonar image shows what could be the plane that disappeared during Amelia Earhart's final flight in 1937.
Romeo, a South Carolina real estate investor who sold his business to fund his search for Earhart’s plane wreckage, posted the images on Instagram. The images show a blurry mass that could – just about – be seen as being plane-shaped. He told the Journal he would now try and get better images.

Apparently, this object is 16,500 feet deep. For reference, the titanic wreckage is ~12,500… so, we’ll probably never find out?

That is a horrible sonar image!! Our Kongsberg sonars 20yrs ago gave us better images than that.
Yes, it is a plane, but how many military planes went down in that area in WW2? This dude is just trying to build up hype to get a tv deal to recoup some of the millions he’s spent looking for it.
If they really think it is her plane, they’d have dropped an ROV in the water, and gotten eyes on it. Which they probably did, but are waiting for the media to blow it up, and bid out tv contracts.

How were they supposed to land, refuel, and take off again from an uninhabited island with no airstrip? And no refueling station?
