National Divorce - Long Overdue

Why would anyone want their quality of life, the economy, and society to decrease in every measurable way?

People keep saying "Natioinal Divorce" like that is possible.
It would quickly devolve into a full blown hot civil war.
Millions die, and at best 2 weakened and war-torn nations emerge, with China being the lone super-power on the planet.

Give them NC for Georgia... then we have a solid red state landmass with a lot of coastline, blue and red states have some of the Mississippi River... the blue states and Canada can unify. They might as well, or at least work out an EU type arrangement that allows for free movement of people and goods within their borders, and that gives them a continuous landmass from the east coast to the west coast. Canada will probably be fine with that because it's their preferred type of people (leftists). Provide a time period and assistance for people who choose to relocate to the territory of their choice.

Done. Then watch the blue states implode.
