Far from the best was in reference to the stated criteria for best movie villain (i.e. most famous/recognizable).

On most criteria, I'd have a hard time to pick anyone above Vader.
But he may be one of the most likeable villains. I've never heard one fan "hate" him. The backstory, pure power, and "effect" (all black with sound effects and perfect voice) make fans love him.

Linda Litzke is a brilliantly well done villain. And she wins in the end.

Any villain played by Alan Rickman is up there, such as Hans Gruber and the sheriff of Nottingham.
