Anybody watch this. Real popular in Ireland. Run around bounce a ball off a wooden paddle. Swat the ball with a wooden paddle. Miss the the ball with paddle.....smack the opponent with paddle.....What's not to like?

Is this when Irish midgets dress up like Leprechauns, chug a half gallon of Guinness, then run around vomiting on each other?

Cool. Never heard of this, but from that video, it closely resembles lacrosse.

Gaelic football is a great game, like Aussie rules with a soccer ball.

There's even a combo rules game that combines Gaelic football and Aussie rules where the two countries go at it sometimes with dogs.

The dog's been the best defender for Ireland YT

Hurling is pretty badass, and it moves fast. There's a huge Irish athletic and cultural center close to me with a regulation GAA field, so local hurling and Gaelic football clubs play out there during the summer.

This shite is sort of terrifying though...
quote:

Hurling is a physical sport with a notable proportion of blunt scrotal trauma arising due to the sport. Prompt physical examination and diagnostic ultrasonography are essential in investigations of injuries, and surgical exploration should be considered in all cases with concerns of testicular survival. Groin protection should be recommended to all players and in particular to those at high risk such as single testis or prior injury.

...played with sticks with no pocket, but a ping pong paddle on the end and a ball that looks something like a baseball.

Looks pretty fun actually.

Stumbled into a hurling match years ago in Ireland, not knowing what I was getting into.

Those Irish folk know how to party.
