is it a done deal that LSU schedule would include:
Texas A&M
Texas
Mizzou
Miss St
Auburn
Tenn
UK
UGA
LSU would skip Ole Miss, Ark, Bama and Florida.
LSU would rotate everyone except Aggies

Probably swap Kentucky with Bama

Is the three permanent teams not a thing anymore?

I 100% do NOT support skipping Ole Miss. Any version of an LSU schedule should include our traditional SEC rival.

Why would we keep A&M?
I don’t even consider them as a main rival.

I don't think it's a given. I'm sure there will be rotation, but probably not as widespread as we might think.
For instance, I don't see any way Alabama doesn't play Auburn and Tennessee every year, and I think the SEC would like to keep the LSU-Bama game every year.

Tru dat. I’ve lulled myself to sleep many nights humming “go to hell ole miss” since ‘56

1. The current SEC schedule calls for 8 SEC games per year. Each school has ONE permanent opponent and rotates everyone else playing each of those teams every other year. There are NOT 9 schools ready to vote to go to a 9 SEC game schedule mainly because ESPN/ABC/Disney will not pay us extra for going to 9 SEC games annually.
2. Currently, LSU has ONE permanent opponent and that is A&M. We will play the Ags every season.
3. In the current setup, LSU plays Carolina, OMiss, Florida, Alabama, Vandy, Arkansas, and Oklahoma in even years (2024) and UK, Tennessee, Texass, Georgia, Auburn, State, and Mizzou in odd (2025) years.
4. Only 5 SEC schools voted to play 9 SEC games. You need at least 9 schools to vote to move to 9 games.

Nah - now that Saban is gone and we will dominate the series, the SEC will not have LSU-Bama very often at all

Maybe, depends on how many permanent games they plan on keeping.
Bama/AU and Bama/Tenn would take priority over Bama/LSU. I think the Bama/LSU thing might die off a bit with Saban gone. Just not the same.

3 only happens if we have a 9 game SEC schedule. If its 8, we only get 1 permanent.

It cant be just 1.
Bama isnt giving up AU or Tenn
UF isnt giving up Tenn or UGA
Ole Miss would have to choose MSU or LSU
Tenn would have to choose between Bama, UF, and Vandy
There are just too many games that cant be dissolved, fan bases would revolt.

Saban was leading the charge for just one because he doesn't want Bama to be stuck with AU, LSU , and Tenn every year. It makes their chances at the playoffs harder.

What’s the deal with playing TAMU? Much rather Ole Piss and/or Gumps.
Posted on 1/23/24 at 4:16 pm to GeorgeWest
The only thing that has been determined is that there will be en eight-game conference schedule in 2024. It would seem very unlikely that there will be just one permanent opponent.
How many times do we have to hear "The Third Saturday in October" and "The Iron Bowl?" Those aren't going away.

It’s absolutely not true.
SEC is not giving up rival matchups to keep only 1 permanent.
At the very minimum, they want UT-A&M & OU-UT every year. They made that obvious by making that matchup over thanksgiving

That’s an excuse. The cowards don’t want to give up their guaranteed win against Delaware State. And Saban didn’t like that his 3 permanents didn’t include Vanderbilt so he led the charge against it, after saying for years he was for a 9 game conference schedule.

Well you see, Ole Miss has this thing called the Egg Bowl, and Bama has something called the Iron Bowl.
