Netflix blows past Q4 subscriber targets, topping 260 million global subscribers

It expected to add eight or nine million subscribers in the final quarter but instead added a robust 13 million. However, it did miss earnings per share forecasts and barely beat expectations for total revenue earnings.

It’s interesting that it exceeded sub numbers but that didn’t really translate to higher than expected revenue. In fact it was less.
Guessing it was lower priced countries

I was trying to see what is driving this and it seems to be the cheap ad tier. So you have to sell a shite load more of that tier to reach your revenue goals.

They also added a cheap ad tier while raising sub prices and cracking down on sub sharing, I'm guessing some people dropped higher priced subs to pick up the ad tier instead.

The point of pushing the ad tier is that netflix makes more per person from the reduced sub price + the ad revenue than they do from subscribers paying the higher price.

This comes from the push for people to buy sub accounts for the people they’ve been sharing passwords with for years.

So, Netflix won the streaming war I see.

The people that said “I’ll never watch Netflix again!!” when they cracked down on password sharing didn’t last long. They probably went a month without it then signed back up “just for one month” and never cancelled. They knew what they were doing. Millennials and Gen Z are fricking weak as frick when it comes to actually boycotting shite

If I remember correctly it was mostly Boomers and Elder Gen X boycotting the NFL. Seems that didn't work either.

Remind me why I was supposed to be boycotting Netflix

Seems like the bigger headline. Stock is up 11% though today on news.

Definitely. Especially with them starting to do more live TV and making a 5 billion WWE purchase. It's for sure going to be a 25+ a month product in a year or two.

This was another company people said “go woke, go broke” about proving yet again that there is pretty much nothing better for your earnings than to have the internet start saying that about you. Even Anheuser-Busch stock is pretty much back to where it was before the fake controversy.

That should have been the headline.
