Does anyone know the dates of the parades (Centaur) in Shreveport in 2025? Also what are the dates for the parades in the Lafayette area in 2025?

My wife want to take a trip in our RV down there for one last time for the Mardi Gras parades. I don't want to deal with New Orleans this time.

I am hoping to hit a few in different towns while down there away from the freezing weather before heading back North. I would also want something that is safe.

Who in their right mind travels to Shreveport for Mardi Gras? You must be some sort of hick.

I have not seen any parade schedules for 2025 yet as the krewes are all coming up on this years balls and parades. Lafayette parades if memory serve start the thurs/fri before Fat Tuesday and go through Fat Tuesday. With Fat Tuesday being March 4 next year, I would assume the parades will be Feb 28- Mar 04 for the Lafayette Krewes.

Just don't go downtown New Orleans. Go to Metairie parades on Veterans or New Orleans parades on St. Charles near Lafayette Street. Those are more family friendly areas.

Mardi Gras in 2025 is on March 4th.

In Lafayette, you'll have Bonaparte riding the Saturday before that on March 1st.

There will be another parade the Monday night, March 3rd, then parades all day on March 4th.

Of course, there are plenty of other parades in the Acadiana area all leading up to Mardi Gras day --- Mamou, Church Point, Youngsville, Scott, etc.

Shreveport has not been safe for a while. Might I suggest Mamou/Eunice and Lafayette.

I get wanting to avoid New Orleans due to the cultcha and crime, but do you think Shreveport is much better?

I'd think Orange Beach would be better than Shreveport.

The Highland Parade is always the Sunday before Fat Tuesday and the Centaur & Gemini are the 2 Saturdays before that.

If you can find the Fat Tuesday date for 2025, that should help you

Orange Beach would probably be more enjoyable that any LA city for Mardi Gras.

Consider going down to Houma. Very family friendly.

Some of our family have been going to Houma with kids and older folks for the past 5 years or so.

Way more Mardi Gras than New Orleans. Lafayette and Scott have the parade style Mardi Gras. I'm sure the surrounding areas do as well. Rural Courier de Mardi Gras is something to see if you haven't witnessed it before. Eunice, Mamou, Tee Mamou, etc. are the traditional coonass chase a chicken runs.

That's like comparing the NBA and WNBA. OP's wife wants Mardi Gras and has experienced the real thing.
